Key Points

  • The Limited Edition Mechanical Watch retailed for $780 and sold out in minutes

  • Current secondary market prices range from $2,000 to $2,500

  • Limited to 600 individually numbered pieces worldwide, making this one of the most exclusive PlayStation anniversary items

We were wrong in the best possible way. Earlier this week, we predicted the Anicorn PlayStation 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Mechanical Watch would fetch $1,100 to $1,500 on the secondary market. We were confident they would resell (and we were right), but the prices we’re seeing on eBay completely blow our predictions out of the water.

Anicorn PlayStation Mechanical Watches

Anicorn and Sony teamed up for what might be the most thoughtful gaming collaboration watch ever made. Unlike the usual lazy quartz movements with slapped-on logos, this was a legitimate mechanical timepiece that actually respected both watchmaking and PlayStation’s legacy. Limited to just 600 numbered pieces worldwide at $780 retail, it featured a Miyota 9039 automatic movement, sapphire crystal, and design details pulled directly from the original 1994 console.

The watch dropped on December 19th exclusively through Anicorn’s website. Every single unit sold out within minutes. The △○×□ symbols sitting at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock weren’t just printed on, they were three-dimensional applied elements.

The hands incorporated Start and Select button text from the original controller. Even the faceted octagonal case referenced the PS1’s industrial design language.

What really separated this from typical gaming merch was the packaging. Anicorn included an NFC-enabled “Memory Capsule” that replicated the original PlayStation memory card. The whole presentation lived in a screwed-down metal “Collector’s Vault” that mimicked vintage gaming hardware. The attention to detail suggested someone in the room actually cared about the source material rather than just chasing a licensing deal.

Anicorn PlayStation Watches Resell

Our original prediction of $1,100 to $1,500 was based on historical performance of Anicorn’s previous gaming collaborations and other PlayStation 30th anniversary products. We knew the PS5 30th Anniversary Pro Bundle became one of 2024’s best flips, and the PlayStation anniversary Reebok sneakers moved at solid margins. But the watch market responded differently than we expected.

Current eBay listings show completed sales well above our range. Watches are moving at $2,000 to $2,500, with some collectors willing to go even higher for lower-numbered pieces. That’s roughly $1,220 to $1,720 profit per watch after eBay’s 13% fees, assuming you managed to cop at retail.

Anicorn PlayStation Anniversary Watch for Sale

Anicorn’s reputation in the watch community legitimized this as an actual collectible timepiece rather than gaming merchandise. Watch enthusiasts who normally wouldn’t touch gaming collabs showed up for this one because it was executed properly.

And the 600-piece limit was significantly tighter than most PlayStation anniversary drops. The PS5 Pro bundles had more units in circulation. The Reebok sneakers hit more retailers. This was truly scarce in a way that mattered to collectors.

Bottom Line

If you secured one at $780 retail, you’re sitting on a minimum $1,200 profit right now, potentially closer to $1,700 depending on your numbered piece and buyer. That’s significantly better than our conservative $320 to $720 estimate from earlier this week.

For those who missed the drop, buying at current secondary prices is a tougher call. You’re banking on continued appreciation in a relatively illiquid market with only 600 units ever made. The watch is legitimately well-made and the PlayStation brand isn’t going anywhere, but you’re entering at 2.5X to 3X retail rather than getting the massive flip margin.

The real lesson here is that properly executed gaming collaborations with legitimate scarcity can absolutely blow past conservative estimates when they hit the right intersection of nostalgia, quality, and collector demand. We predicted low, the market proved us wrong, and anyone who copped is eating very well on this flip.
