Alex Hirsch Signed Book of Bill Copies Return for Black Friday

Barnes & Noble is reviving their Black Friday tradition of selling large numbers of autographed books, with Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch contributing signed copies of “The Book of Bill”. These are still available, and they should be on every reseller’s radar. We’ve seen autographed editions flip for major profits in the past.

Great news for resellers: signed books are back for Barnes & Noble’s Black Friday. This was a yearly tradition we counted on for some easy profits, so it’s great to see it come back in 2025.

These new signed “Book of Bill” copies are almost identical to the signed Barnes & Noble exclusive we covered back in 2023, but with one key upgrade: an alternate glow-in-the-dark cover that makes it instantly distinguishable from the previous release. Hirsch is one of the first authors selected for Barnes & Noble’s relaunched in-person Black Friday signing program, which makes this drop especially significant.

The timing matters here. When signed Book of Bill copies hit the market in 2023, they were moving for $400 pretty quickly. Given that Hirsch only does these signings sporadically and Gravity Falls maintains a dedicated collector base, there’s proven demand for anything he autographs.

Hirsch has a track record. His signed copies of “Gravity Falls: Journal 3” from 2013 became legitimate collector’s items, with some copies selling north of $2,000 over the years. That’s the kind of long-term value that makes signed editions from this creator worth watching. The Book of Bill itself hit #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and sold out its first signed run in under a day.

Barnes & Noble is selling these exclusively through their website and in-store locations. The glow-in-the-dark cover edition is part of their Black Friday Signed Editions program, which kicked off November 28th and runs through December 1st. Stock is limited and Barnes & Noble has a one-book-per-customer limit on signed editions.

The glow-in-the-dark cover gives this version a unique selling point over the previous signed edition, which could actually drive prices higher for collectors who want both variants. It’s also worth noting that Hirsch doesn’t do massive signing events regularly, so these don’t flood the market like some other author signings.

Keep in mind Barnes & Noble’s return policy: signed books are typically final sale, so you can’t return them if the market doesn’t cooperate. That’s the risk you’re taking at $36 retail.

This is obviously not a risk-free flip, and the deflated market is a bit of a bummer for anyone that cooked on the last flip. You have some time to make a decision, but remember these are final sale only. Weigh your options carefully.
