Planters is selling their Special Reserve peanuts for a limited time only
Standard packs are $10, while a limited number of Collector’s Boxes sold for $20
Resellers have flipped these boxes for up to $50
Planters has recently released a line of premium peanuts for discerning palates. Planters Special Reserve ’23 is an artisanal collection of the finest peanuts Virginia has to offer, packaged and sold for a limited time only. For the connoisseur, an exclusive line of numbered collector’s boxes was sold their website. These were highly limited and sold out fast. Now resellers are hoping to cash in.
So, how did you celebrate National Peanut Day? A PB&J at home? Or a trip to Five Guys? No matter what, we hope you took some time and ate some peanuts on September 13.
It’s a big deal for some, among them Planters. For National Peanut Day, Planters revealed a new collection of their finest nuts to date. Bred for size and flavor, grown in Virginia only, and roasted in small batches; this is only for real nutters.
We are excited to offer this exclusive product to our loyal fans and to honor the long-standing legacy of Mr. Peanut. Planters Special Reserve peanuts embody the pinnacle of quality and taste, and we are delighted to celebrate National Peanut Day with such a premium offering.
Planters Special Reserve ’23 went up for sale online and at local retailers on September 9. The collection will only be available for a limited time, so you’d better hurry if you’re craving a truly special nut.
But for those who’d rather put their finest on their shelf than in their stomach, Planters has you covered. A small number of Planters Special Reserve ’23 Collector’s Boxes were also available at the same time.
For $20, you got a tin of nuts and a numbered box to put it in. We’re not sure how many Planters Special Reserve Collector’s Boxes were produced, but we can say the entire collection sold out in a few hours.
In a perfect world, all the peanut-obsessed people out there who wanted one of these boxes would’ve gotten one. Products like these belong in a museum, or at the very least a shelf in some weird guy’s house.
Fortunately for resellers, we don’t live in a perfect world, and products like these sell out every day, before they can reach a collector. We’ve covered all kinds of collectable food that resells, like Sour Patch Kids Oreos or maple syrup flavored Pepsi.
So, are Planters Special Reserve Collector’s Boxes reselling? Well, not quite yet. At least one reseller has managed to get $50 for their box, but it seems like most collectors are playing hard to get.
There are a handful of other listings for anywhere from $5 to $100, but no takers yet. That’s fine, we can wait; it’s not like peanuts are highly perishable or anything.
In the meantime, subscribe to our newsletter if you want to learn about other reselling opportunities. Chappell Roan is selling autographs at her latest concerts, and the Barbie Flip Phone is just around the corner.
