Key Points

  • Dasai is giving away a modified 240SX to the first person that finds it

  • It costs $10 to enter

  • The Battle Royale lasts 36 hours, with the search area narrowing down over time

If you like Japanese cars, road tripping, and taking chances, we have one hell of an opportunity for you. Next month, Dasai is giving away the keys to a Nissan 240SX to one lucky winner for just $10. The catch? The car is in a mystery location, and the first person to find it gets to drive away with it. It’s Dasai’s first Barn Find Battle Royale, and it’s going to be wild.

What is Dasai?

If you’re a regular RC reader, you’re probably already familiar with the name. We’re big fans of the Australia company Dasai, who are best known for their line of small onboard electronics like the Dasai Mochi.

In our coverage on Dasai, what stood out to us is the remarkable community built around the company; they really are uniquely tapped in to modern car culture.

Next month Dasai will be kicking off their most innovative and unusual product yet. Better yet, it seems like this is only the first part of a new approach for the company.

The Dasai Barn Find Battle Royale

Here’s what’s happening:

Dasai has hidden a car somewhere in California. Starting at 8 A.M, the car’s location on the map will gradually be narrowed down as time passes. Every hour that goes by, the circle on their website will gradually shrink until either 36 hours have passed, or the car is found.

Dasai Battle Royale Info

Once someone has found the car, all they have to do to claim is enter a secure access code found on the vehicle’s rear window. After taking a picture to prove they really found it, the winner is free to open the door, take a seat, and do a few donuts.

How to enter the Dasai Battle Royale

This event is open to anyone, but you must buy a Battle Royale Pass from Dasai to participate. You will not be able to claim the car without one.

The Dasai Battle Royale Pass costs just $10, and is a simple digital purchase that also gives the buyer access to the Battle Royale Dashboard used for the event.

What car is in the Dasai Battle Royale?

Considering Dasai’s focus on JDM and tuner culture, the car they chose is pretty fitting. For their Barn Find Battle Royale, Dasai is giving away a 1991 Nissan 240SX. It’s a left hand drive with a manual, showing around 168,000 miles on the dash.

The car has also been modified, featuring upgraded camshafts, new wheels, coilovers, and more. These are extremely popular cars within the tuner scene, and they tend to sell for quite a bit compared to other cars from those years.

A Nissan 240SX in this condition can sell for anywhere from $9,000 to $15,000. It’s especially valuable because it has a manual transmission.

Dasai Barn Find Battle Royale Details

If you’ve read this far and you want in, here are some details about how the Barn Find Battle Royale will work.

Right now, Dasai’s website shows the entire state of California. On November 11 at 8 A.M, the Battle Royale will begin. The circle on the map will shrink every hour afterwards, and searchers will be able to start converging on the car’s location. The Dasai Battle Royale will last 36 hours.

Dasai has given the following information on where the car can be found:

  • The car will be located on a street or alleyway
  • The car will NOT be on private property
  • The car is being monitored by Dasai 24/7

Dasai has also published a list of terms and conditions here.

Only people will the Dasai Battle Pass will be eligible to claim the car, but Dasai has otherwise left the strategy part up to the searchers. You’re free to split up in different cars, team up, or go solo.

Claiming the car is a specific process. Once found, you’ll need to locate the access code on the rear window. You’ll then need to log in on your Battle Royale Dashboard and enter the code there. This will take you to a store page where you will be able to check out from. Dasai has also requested that you take a picture of the code to prove you actually found it.

Once you do all that, the car is yours. For a $10 entry fee and a hell of a road trip, you have the chance to drive away in a seriously sweet car. If you’ve got some free time next month and don’t mind pulling an all-nighter, why not take a shot?
