Lorcana Booster Pack Restock Was a Win for Resellers

It’s been a great couple of weeks for resellers. The release of Barbie and Oppenheimer have generated thousands of dollars in profit off their related merchandise, Halloween decorations are just beginning to hit stores, and we’ve seen a wide variety of celebrity crossover products that sell out and flip. With all these new and varied methods to make money reselling, classic options like cards sometimes get put on the backburner. A few days ago, we saw a limited restock of Disney Lorcana booster packs go up on BestBuy. It didn’t take long for those cards to sell out, and they’re now creating tons of profit for the resellers who picked them up.

This isn’t the first time we’ve covered Disney’s Lorcana trading card game. Disney has been cooking up the game since 2021, and early versions of cards started appearing at promotional events through 2022. You can read our full write-up on the game here.

Disney took plenty of cues from established TCGs when it comes to card rarity, and an aftermarket for Lorcana cards was established well before the game’s release. Currently, the game is slated for a Fall 2023 launch, with instructive manuals, play guides, and collector’s manuals already circulating.

It seems everything is ready for the big release, as cards are finally being made available through various presales. On August 3, 2023, a limited number of Disney Lorcana Booster Boxes were sold through BestBuy for $144.

Included are 24 Lorcana Booster Packs, which have twelve cards each. Disney says that each Booster Pack contains 6 common cards, 3 uncommon cards, 2 rare, super-rare, or legendary cards, and 1 foil card of random rarity. For a complete list of every card revealed so far, check here.

People love rare stuff. That’s kind of a cornerstone of reselling, and it’s certainly true here. While Lorcana is a new TCG entering an established market, its built out of one of the biggest IPs in the world, and backed by a media juggernaut. Fans are already excited for it, and that’s reflected in the aftermarket for the cards.

Lorcana Booster Boxes Resell

Following the sale and sellout of booster packs from BestBuy, many buyers would go on to list their Lorcana Booster Box for sale on eBay, and many more were eager to pay. Right now, a Disney Lorcana Booster Box is reselling for around $300.

Considering that some of the rarest Lorcana cards have already gaveled for upwards of $5k, people being willing to pay a premium for sealed booster packs is not a surprise. Now that Lorcana’s full release is in sight, hype around the product will only continue to increase. Pay attention for more releases like these in the next couple of weeks.

Lorcana cards will start hitting local game shops on August 18, with an expected wider retail release coming on September 1. It’s looking like the game has a long life ahead of it, so expect to make buying and selling Lorcana cards a new part of your reselling routine.
