3,000 Telepathic Instruments Orchid keyboards drop on May 29
The Orchid is $550 and limited to one per customer
Telepathic Instruments Orchids have flipped for up to $1,400
Resellers around the world are gearing up for the second drop of Telepathic Instruments’ popular Orchid keyboard. These have been a smash hit with noodlers, bedroom rockers, and especially resellers. TI has confirmed that a new batch of keyboards will be dropping later this week. If you missed out on the first drop, here’s your chance to snag a keyboard and hundreds of dollars in profit.
First, a little backstory. If you read our previous article on the Orchid or you’re just an impatient resellers (read: a reseller), you can skip down to the details on the upcoming release.
Telepathic Instruments is a musical instrument manufacturer that stealth-launched last year. It’s largely the brainchild of Kevin Parker AKA Tame Impala, and their primary product is the Orchid ORC-1000 synthesizer/keyboard/”Ideas Machine”.
It’s designed for musicians in the early outlining stages of creating music. You can play a melody, a chord, or even a single note and the Orchid will iterate on it. It’s ideal for playing with ideas or just a song stuck in your head before committing anything to paper.
The Orchid was extensively teased through Parker’s Instagram in 2024, with many Tame Impala fans interpreting it as an upcoming album.
Following its full reveal, Telepathic Instruments held a limited preliminary release for Orchid keyboards. These were priced at $549, and limited to just 1,000 units. Additionally, only US customers were able to participate in this initial drop.
After releasing December, these first Orchids sold out extremely fast. Telepathic Records password-protected the site and attempted to manage demand, but it was clear that 1,000 units was not nearly enough to go around.
Shortly after launch, Telepathic Instruments Orchid ORC-1000 keyboards began flipping for upwards of $1,000, with a significant string of sales for up to $1,400. These didn’t start shipping until February, so most sales are fairly recent.
For resellers that snagged one, the Orchid represents a potential profit of more than $800. Considering the $549 MSRP, this was one of the juiciest flips of 2024, and we’ve been eagerly waiting for news on a restock.
We got confirmation earlier this month that a restock was on its way, but details were slim. Telepathic Instruments finally gave us all the information for the upcoming restock, so here’s what you need to know.
Telepathic Instruments will be restocking their sold-out Orchid keyboard on May 29 exclusively through their website. The keyboard’s price of $550 remains unchanged, and buyers will receive a free orange carry case with purchase.
3,000 Orchid keyboards will be available during this drop. Telepathic Instruments is splitting the global drop into two regions; North, South and Central Americans will be able buy their keyboards starting at 4 P.M. PST, while the rest of the world will have access at 9 A.M. BST.
Telepathic Instruments has stated they will be allocating stock based on pre-drop signups, and we’re guessing the American drop will be considerably larger than the European one.
Additionally, TI will be password-locking the website on May 27. On drop day, the site password will be revealed through The Garden, Telepathic Instruments’ free Patreon. We strongly recommend joining ahead of time.
Customers will be limited to one Orchid, but previous buyers will still be eligible for this week’s restock.
And it’s worth noting that Telepathic Instruments will likely offer free shipping for orders that meet a certain purchase threshold. Last time, this was $600. Adding a t-shirt or hoodie was an easy way to hit that mark, but you should add these items to your cart before the website is locked.
This is an opportunity every reseller should be jumping on. The original Orchid drop was one of the most profitable flips of 2024, and this one will be nearly as limited. 3,000 might be more than 1,000, but it’s still not nearly enough to go around. Expect to see eBay sales for $400 to $500 over MSRP easily.
