How to turn five cents into fifty dollars
Resellers have been flipping pairs of Shrek Crocs for well over retail
Crocs had to distribute the shoes through a raffle system
Shrek 5 is set to release in 2025, expect to see more Shrek merch soon
Last September, Crocs began selling a special version of their iconic eyesores. Yes, Shrek Crocs are real, and they CAN hurt you. These were available through a raffle system at the time to keep things fair. Several months later resellers have been turning easy profits by flipping these shoes for significantly more than they paid. Let’s take a look and figure out what the deal is with them.
It’s definitely getting warmer, and you be starting to look for springtime additions to your wardrobe. Something airy, breathable, but durable enough to take on hikes.
Well, buy a damn pair of sandals. If your goal is to offend though, we have something you might like. Last year, Crocs announced they would be producing a limited run of Shrek themed Crocs exclusively for people with perpetual fish breath.
Come, cast your gaze upon the black depths of total irony poisoning and the complete unabridged power of millennial memes. Look upon these works, ye Zoomers, and despairs. All jokes will be trammeled into dust and profit before your eyes.
Anyways, these were available through a raffle system from Crocs’ website. Unlucky winners were smited with the opportunity to purchase a pair.
As far as crocs go, these are pretty much bog standard. They’re finished in a repulsive green, and have added ears and a nose so that everybody gets the joke. The backstrap is covered in a fuzzy brown material to emulate Shrek’s vest, and will likely be just as effective for picking up bits of grime and muck during hikes.
When they first retailed back in September, Shrek Crocs cost $60. Shrek Crocs were available in children’s, women’s, and men’s sizes.
And with a product this stupid, you know that it would resell. Ever since the raffle closed and the shoes sold out, resellers have been flipping Shrek Crocs for well over retail.
Right now, even six months after their release, Shrek Crocs are reselling for about $100. Adult sizes, especially women’s are the most profitable (shocking).
Why are the Shrek Crocs so popular and therefore profitable? Well, people like Crocs because they’re ugly. And people like Shrek because he’s ugly, and they also grew up with them. As we all know, milking millennials for easy cash is simple; just find whatever they’re nostalgic for and start churning out crossovers, limited editions, and reboots.
With “Shrek 5” being confirmed for a 2025 release, it seems like the franchise is ready to come out of dormancy and start generating profits. As long as resellers can get a little of the pie, we don’t mind.
Subscribe to our newsletter if you want to hear more about products like these. Sometimes we cover products before they release, other times we prefer to sit and laugh at people getting scalped over a pair of Crocs.
