Mondo sold “Peanuts”-themed posters for Record Store Day 2024
They were $60, and limited to 165 units per design
Past posters have resold for hundreds
By now, you’ve probably heard about Record Store Day. Tons of new vinyl and merchandise was released for a limited time only at independent stores across the country, and resellers were there every step of the way. What we’re looking at today was a set of highly-limited posters produced for Record Store Day 2024 but sold online. Like most everything else, these have been very popular. Resellers are expecting them to flip for hundreds.
You know, this isn’t the first time we’ve talked about something from “Peanuts” reselling. A few weeks ago, MoonSwatches with Snoopy’s face on them were trading for nearly $1,000, and before that the Red Cross was using Snoopy as a mascot. Now Charles Schulz’ work is reselling again.
What are we talking about? Let’s back up. Yesterday, April 20 was Record Store Day 2024 (and also 4/20). It’s a chance for indie record stores across the country to open their doors and sell some vinyl.
Artists and labels will usually spin up special, one-day-only offers for their fans, and there’s a lot of unique merch sold at the same time. Usually these are sold locally, but sometimes they’re not. What we’re looking at today was only available online.
During Record Store Day 2024, the design company Mondo produced two screenprinted posters based on Charles Schulz “Peanuts”.
As you can see, they’re both themed around music. Both prints are exact four-color reproductions of “Peanuts” panels from 1958. They were $60 each, and limited to just 165 total units per design.
This has become something of a tradition for Mondo lately. They’ve produced highly limited “Peanuts” posters for Record Store Day last year and the year before, and those have been highly popular, enough that they’ve resold for hundreds of dollars.
Hopefully you can see why resellers were paying attention to this release. At $60 a pop and tight production, these posters did not last long. Everything was sold out in under an hour after they went live.
Now it’s time for the fun part. Since these disappeared so fast, there are plenty of people out there that wanted one but missed their chance. What other options do they have now?
It’s still pretty early, and there haven’t been any recorded sales for these posters. We’ll need to give it a few days and see what people are willing to pay.
What we can say is that Mondo’s “Peanuts” posters have a great track record. As you’ve seen before, their RSD 2022 designs have flipped for hundreds, and many of their recent releases resell for well over retail.
In short, we’re confident about these posters. Mondo has clearly attracted collectors’ attentions, and that’s pretty much all you need to be profitable in this space.
We’ll keep a close eye on them in the next few days. In the meantime, you can subscribe to our newsletter to learn more about reselling. Stay tuned for more Record Store Day 2024 flips in the next few days.
