Signed copies of “Mayhem” on black vinyl were available for $43
These were only sold through Lady Gaga’s Mayhem webstore
Resellers are flipping them for $200 or more
There’s nothing quite so easy or lucrative as a good vinyl flip. Experienced resellers know that fans seek out particular records as collectables, and the addition of an artist’s signature and limited pressing can really help drive aftermarket prices. With the release of her album “Mayhem” just around the corner, Lady Gaga has produced a limited number of signed Mayhem black vinyl records. As expected, these sold out fast and generating tidy profits for the resellers that got in early. Let’s get into it.
It’s been a busy couple years for Stefani Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga. She starred in “Joker: Folie a Deux” alongside Joaquin Phoenix, virtually headlined season 2 of Fortnite Festival, and has been hard at work on her own music at the same time.
“Mayhem” will be her eight major studio release, and its set for release on March 7. Described by Gaga herself as “genre-bending“, the singles released for “Mayhem” have been reviewed well, and she’s already slated for a major appearance at this year’s Coachella Festival.
Of course, the real money is everywhere other than the music. Lady Gaga’s webstore expanded this week to include a section dedicated to Mayhem, with new vinyl, clothing, and fan packs for sale.
What we’re interested in is the autographed Mayhem Store exclusive 180g black vinyl. These are labeled as “Audiophile grade”, with a bonus track, alternative art, and signed insert included with every order.
Signed Mayhem 180g black vinyl were available through Lady Gaga’s Mayhem Store for $43. As an autographed item, these were produced in very limited quantities. When they dropped on Monday morning, it didn’t take long for all of the stock to sell out.
Bad news for the fans that were hoping to get one, but very good news for resellers looking to make a buck. And just because something is sold out at retail doesn’t mean it’s unobtainable, as long as you don’t mind forking over a little extra cash.
Right now, these signed Lady Gaga Mayhem 180g black vinyl records are reselling for nearly $200, just about five times what they originally retailed for.
The resellers that got in to this drop early are now poised to make around $160 or so in profit. That’s quite a start to the week, especially if all you had to do was click a few buttons and (maybe) wake up a little earlier than usual.
