Special Anniversary editions of “Interstellar” are available for $60
They are mostly sold out online, but still available in stores
Resellers are flipping them for $130 to $180
Believe it or not, it’s been ten years since the release of Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar”. Seen by many as the high point in Nolan’s career, the film took home numerous awards and hundreds of millions of dollars. Ten years later “Interstellar” is being re-released in a special 4k collectors package. These are available at stores across the country, and resellers have been having a field day flipping these for two to three times what they retail for.
Let’s wind back the clock. It’s 2014, and Christopher Nolan’s latest film is just about to hit the theaters. Fresh off the success of his “Batman” trilogy, “Interstellar” arrives on the biggest screens in the world.
Blending IMAX-ready visuals and an at-times heartrending plot, the film was a massive hit and is generally regarded as one of the best science fiction films of the new millennium. Hans Zimmer’s memorable score underpins the entire adventure, which he later cited as his best work.
Time moves on though, and we now find ourselves ten years past the film’s release. To celebrate, a limited number of IMAX theaters showed the film in December, and a new anniversary edition was produced.
“Interstellar” 10th Anniversary Collector’s Editions ship with three editions of the film on 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and an additional digital download code. Also include is a set of five reproductions of the original theatrical posters, an unreleased storyboard from Christopher Nolan, and replicas of five astronaut patches featured in the movie.
The entire boxed set is available for around $60. It’s sold both online and at most retailers, although most online listings are currently sold out. If you’re looking to buy this collection, we recommend going in person to your local Target, Barnes and Noble, or any other retailer that sells movies.
And if you do try to pick one of these up, you should probably hurry. These are a limited edition production spun up for the film’s anniversary, and will not last long. In fact, collectors are already buying them off resellers rather than trying to hunt for them in stores.
Interstellar 10th Anniversary Collector’s Editions are currently reselling for upwards of $130, with over 100 sales recorded over the last few days. Better yet, prices seem to be going up. Early sales were usually trading for only $100 or so, but recent listings have sold for $150, or even $180 at a time.
At $60 retail, resellers stand to double or potentially triple their money flipping these collections. We’ll take that profit any day of the week, and these would also make a great Christmas present for any fan of the movie.
