Still early, but solid interest for over $1,000
Where did the time go?
And they're still restocking
Air Toobz are a new toy from Fat Brain that retails for $140
They’re very hard to find this late in the season and parents are getting desperate
Resellers have been flipping them for $300, $400, even $500
In a world of Skibidi Toilet and AI-generated iPad games, it’s getting hard to find ways to keep kids entertained that aren’t actively shrinking their brains. How do you find gifts that will inspire the same joy as Finger Family Elsa and Thanos pooping videos?
Fat Brain is a company that develops children’s toys. Since 2002, they’ve worked to produce a variety of products for all ages of kid.
One of these are “Air Toobz“. Think Hot Wheels tracks, but there’s no cars and the whole thing is powered by a fan. Fat Brain advertises that it “encourages spatial reasoning, creativity, experimentation, problem-solving, STEM learning”. Can’t get much better than that, can it?
These toys have been getting attention over the last few months. They were featured on the Today’s Show’s toy review segment in late November, and mommy TikTok has been all over them.
Parents love them because they’re a return to more traditional toy designs that promote creativity, and kids love them because kids are dumb and easily entertained.
@bumpsandbottles This Air Toobz toy by Fat Brain Toys is such a great way to teach your kids about physics! Kids can arrange and connect tubes in so many different ways and watch the balls travel through the tubes when they turn on the air. And did you know that Christmas is a popular time to buy toys? Yes, hard to believe, but its true. Now that Air Toobz are the must-have toy in the eyes of many, they’ve become increasingly hard to find.
Fat Brain takes a slightly different approach to distribution compared to other manufacturers. They select particular retailers to carry their products, and it can be hard to find a store that stocks them. Of course, buying online is an option, but that’s become harder and harder this time of year.
Here’s the bottom line: these toys are popular, valuable, and sold out everywhere. Can you guess what happens next?
Whenever we see a confluence of factors like these, it sets the stage perfectly for resellers. It’s even better if you add in a little time pressure. The upcoming holidays, for one; adults are (usually) okay if you tell them their gift won’t get in until January, but kids? That’s a harder sell.
Because these toys are selling out at retailer, desperate parents have nowhere to turn but resellers. You know, warmhearted, festive resellers that are just trying to put a smile on a kids face this year.
Anyways, Air Toobz are reselling. For a lot. Right now, the average eBay listing for an Air Toobz set is around $400. Most confirmed sales are between $350 and $450, but some sellers have managed to flip theirs for $500.
Ho ho ho! Buy your Christmas presents earlier next year! Or not, we appreciate the extra spending money. December is usually the time of year that wallets take a real beating, so any help is nice.
If you want to learn more about reselling and catch opportunities like these before they pass by, subscribe to our newsletter. When we’re not busy scalping children’s toys, we’re reselling Teslas, reusuable Trader Joe’s bags, and even McDonald’s merch.
