McDonald’s sold a Grimace-themed Holiday sweater for $65
Most sizes sold out in under an hour
Resellers are flipping them for around double that
Looking for an ugly sweater? A really ugly sweater? Does your wardrobe have a McDonald’s shaped hole in it? Have we got something for you! McDonald’s is selling a Grimace-themed Holiday sweater, and it’s an eyesore. Naturally, something as ugly as this was bound to sell out quickly. Within a few hours of the sweaters going live on McDonald’s site, all of them were spoken for. Now they’re reselling, even (especially) the large sizes.
Remember a few months ago when McDonald’s rolled out the Grimace birthday meal? And there were all those TikToks of teenagers drinking the shake and ending up in the exclusion zone?
@mataneven Happy Birthday Grimace! #Grimace #grimaceshake #grimacesbirthday #mcdonalds
Yes, it was a very funny joke for like ten minutes, and then it got old. To be fair, Grimace has been around for a long time, but 2023 has definitely been his year.
So to celebrate, Grimace is getting a sweater. Well, the sweater was probably already in the works, but the characters newfound limelight meant it would be much, much more popular compared to previous years.
What else is there to say? It is purple. It has Grimace on it. It has McDonald’s Arches on it. And it’s $65. McDonald’s sold these sweaters through their online store on Friday. Sizes ranged from small to XXXL.
It took between 30 minutes to an hour for every size to sell out. If you’re not familiar with reselling clothes, sizes are one of the most important factors.
Generally speaking, larger sizes tend to be the most popular and therefore the most profitable. For the Grimace sweaters that was definitely the case, and the large and extra large sweaters would sell out first.
Hopefully you’ve figured out where this is going. The site is called “Resell Calendar“, after all. Now that all of the Grimace sweaters have sold out and McDonald’s is keeping quiet about a potential restock, they’ve started to resell.
The average price for a Grimace sweater is around $120. Like we said, larger sizes are best, but it all seems to be moving.
Keep an eye out for future restocks of this sweater. If you didn’t know, McDonald’s is a pretty damn big company. There are a lot of people out there that love it, and probably a lot who aren’t embarrassed by the idea of walking around with their logo on their chest.
If these come back in stock, expect them to sell out and continue reselling. At least through the holidays, or if McDonald’s really goes all out with the production.
