Bandai Namco are dipping their fingers back into the Elden Ring pie. It’s been four years since the game released and nearly a year since the DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree” dropped, and resellers have been along every step of the way. Now limited edition vinyl versions of the soundtrack are being produced, and resellers are lining up to turn a profit. Here’s what you need to know.
This might be obvious, but FromSoftware is having a pretty good decade. 2022’s Elden Ring has gone down as one of the highest-rated and bestselling games ever produced, and they’d follow it up with Armored Core 6 and a massive Elden DLC over the next few years.
And in just a few weeks, Elden Ring: Nightreign will be releasing. Resellers have been there every step of the way, flipping Collector’s Editions, premium merch, and even network test codes for well above their retail prices.
Now a new line of Shadow of the Erdtree vinyl is planned for launch. You can revisit the music of the DLC with this five-disc, 36 song collection spanning over two hours of music.
Bandai Namco has preorders open for Shadow of the Erdtree vinyl collections right now, with prices for the limited edition collection at $150. These are capped at 9,999 units, with each collection shipping with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
Along with the music, collectors will also receive a premium slipcase with matching sleeves, a small art print, and felt turntable slipmat.
The vinyl is expected to ship before Summer. If you’re interested in picking one of these up for personal use or as a flip, this is your chance. Customers are limited to a maximum of two, and you can return unopened merch within 30 days of delivery if it fails to resell.
Time for the fun bit. FromSoft fans might be looking to add these records to their collections, but resellers are all about turning a profit. Are these worth going after?
Well, it’s a mixed bag. On the one hand, Elden Ring has been a massive cash cow for all parties involved. We’ve tracked all kinds of merch that’s flipped for a profit, from the games themselves to the full 18 inches of Messmer.
On the other hand, Bandai is fully aware of how popular Elden Ring is, and they’ve scaled production accordingly. Even their limited edition products are still produced in massive numbers. In the case of this vinyl, 9,999 of them will be produced.
With an MSRP of $150, these are a pretty tall order for any reseller. If the production numbers were a bit lower, closer to 4,000 or 5,000, we’d feel confident in this flip. It’s hard to rubberstamp it under the current conditions.
But remember that you can return unopened products for a full refund, taking out almost all the risk from this. If you don’t mind parking some cash in this product while the preorder window is open, this might be a opportunity to make some easy money.
We’ll let you make the call. As always, make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter and get updated on everything new worth reselling. From dive bar-themed vinyl to limited edition magazines; there’s a whole world of profitable products out there just waiting to be flipped.
