The Elden Ring Nightreign network test will run for this weekend only
Players with a download code will have early access to the game
The codes are reselling for up to $60 already
FromSoftware’s newest game is slated for launch later this year, and a select number of gamers will be getting early access this weekend. The Elden Ring Nightreign network test is invite-only, and the codes were sent out yesterday. We’ve started to seem them go up for sale on eBay, and some of the prices will cover the cost of the game and then some. Let’s get started.
If you watched December’s Game Awards, you saw the surprise trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign. The game is a bizarre mishmash of previous FromSoft content, and serves as a standalone follow-up to the biggest game of 2022.
Nightreign is slated for a 2025 launch, and FromSoftware has prepared a network test set for this weekend. Players will be able to get a sneak preview at the game’s setting and systems while collecting data for the developers.
The Nightreign network test will run in five different three-hour sessions starting on February 14. You can find more information on the test through Bandai Namco’s website.
Unfortunately, the only way to get into the Elden Ring Nightreign network test is through a digital code sent by FromSoftware. Gamers were able to sign up for early access back in January, but that window has since closed.
Not everyone who entered would receive a code. The network test is open for PlayStation, Xbox and PC, and FromSoftware is likely trying to evenly split the playerbase across these platforms. Xbox codes were the easiest to get, followed by PC, while PlayStation Nightreign codes had the most competition.
If you entered for a chance to get in, make sure you check your email. FromSoftware is sending out Elden Ring Nightreign codes right now.
Experienced resellers already know this, but FOMO is one hell of a drug. Now that the entry period has closed, gamers that missed their chance to sign up are kicking themselves. But what can they do? It’s not like you can just buy a code.
Or wait, actually you can just do that. Technically, it’s against FromSoftware’s TOS, but who actually reads that. Right now, Elden Ring Nightreign network test digital codes are reselling for anywhere from $10 to $60 (more than the retail price of the full game).
So if you got a code and don’t mind missing out on the opportunity, flipping it online can be pretty lucrative. Some resellers have started listing their codes for as much as $500, but these are unlikely to sell. With only a few days left until the test, we’re excited to see how high prices will go.
One little disclaimer though if you’re considering listing your code. To sign up, you were required to provide your name and platform ID to Bandai Namco. This information is likely associated with the unique download code that was sent to you, and it’s possible they will be able to detect a discrepancy during the network test.
The Terms of Service for the network test expressly forbid transferring your code, let alone selling them. All we’re saying is there might be some risk involved here, and it’s possible that Bandai or FromSoft could retaliate against your account. Possible, but unlikely.
Anyways, make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter to learn all about the weird and wild ways people make money reselling. Digital codes, real world goods – we don’t care. If it’s profitable, we’re there.
