Chipotle is taking a shot at AI slop by running a unique marketing campaign during the Super Bowl. Rather than paying for an ad spot, they’ll be giving away $1,000,000 worth of free food to viewers that text in a code during the game. You’ll need to be quick to take advantage of this, and have Instagram opened and signed into.

This might be one of the most clever Super Bowl promotions we’ll see this year, which is especially impressive considering Chipotle isn’t even running a commercial.

Here’s how it works: during the game, Chipotle will post an Instagram reel with a code. The first 100,000 people to text this code to 888222 will receive a code for a free entree that can be redeemed through the Chipotle app.

We don’t know exactly when this reel will be posted, but that doesn’t mean you need to be glued to Chipotle’s Instagram instead of watching the game. Chipotle will post the reel at the same time an AI-generated ad runs on the main broadcast at some point “after halftime and before the third quarter”.
