When it launched last month, The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 vanished almost instantly, and the secondary market has kept it well above sticker ever since. The good news is that Nintendo admits it misjudged demand and is promising more units. The bad news is nobody will say when. Between launch day, the Ocarina of Time remake, and a midnight event at Best Buy, there are a few real chances to grab one at retail over the next two weeks.

Nintendo Confirms Zelda Switch 2 Restocks

The 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 is the first limited edition Switch 2, with a black and gold Triforce dock and green and gold Joy-Con 2 controllers. When preorders opened in September, it sold out in about four hours and quickly hit $900 on eBay, while the themed Pro Controllers reached $200.

Last week, Nintendo of Latin America VP and GM Bill van Zyll told Brazilian YouTube channel Coelho no Japão that Nintendo underestimated demand and confirmed restocks of the console, controller, and Ocarina of Time remake, with no dates or quantities. His role covers Latin America, but he said the U.S. did extremely well and that Nintendo is working on restocks globally. Nintendo’s store page also says more inventory is on the way soon, with email alerts available.

When Will the Zelda Switch 2 Restock?

October 29 is the console’s official release day. Preorders ship, and the hope is that Target and GameStop held back units for shelves, though neither has confirmed it.

November 5 is the more reliable shot. Best Buy is opening nearly all U.S. stores at midnight ET for the Ocarina of Time remake, and participating locations will carry limited quantities of the Zelda console and Pro Controller. Best Buy lists participating stores by state, offers no rainchecks, and doesn’t disclose quantities, so show up early.

Zelda Switch 2 Consoles Keep Reselling

At $700, a console nets about $65 after eBay’s 13.6% fee and roughly $20 in shipping. Controllers net roughly $20 to $65. Not life changing, but a solid flip if a Best Buy is nearby, and a nice bonus if you were camping out for Ocarina of Time anyway.

The restock itself is the risk. Preorder holders start listing once units ship, and a large Nintendo restock could push prices down further. Neither Nintendo nor Best Buy has labeled these final sale, but confirm the return window on your receipt before counting on it.
