Game Informer's GTA 6 Magazine Cover Available Now

Game Informer revealed the issue 382 cover earlier today. The cover story comes from senior associate editor Marcus Stewart, a South Florida native, who spoke with several lead designers at Rockstar about Leonida, the game’s take on Florida.

It promises never-before-shared details on GTA 6’s weather systems, the wildlife roaming its land, air, and sea, and how Rockstar researched Miami to build Vice City. Twelve new exclusive screenshots run alongside the story.

The cover art features protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and Game Informer is openly pitching it as a collector’s item for GTA fans. The rest of the issue is stacked too, with previews of the Ocarina of Time remake and Persona 4 Revival, plus reviews of Marvel’s Wolverine and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.

There are two ways to get a physical copy. The first is a print and digital subscription, currently discounted to $59.99 a year for 10 issues. Game Informer says new subscribers will get the GTA issue as their first delivery, though its FAQ notes a first issue can take four to six weeks to arrive. The second is the newsstand. Game Informer is now sold in stores at Barnes & Noble, Books a Million, GameStop, and Gelson’s, along with retailers in more than a dozen countries. Issues are expected to start rolling out in October.

GTA 6 is set to become the biggest game launch of all time, and there are tons of fans and collectors looking to stock up on every conceivable bit of memorabilia possible before launch. These magazines could be the next item on their list.

There’s precedent here. Dazed’s recent GTA 6 magazine cover sold out fast in August and resold for up to $130 before Dazed restocked it. Resellers were able to turn profits of over $100 for every magazine sold.

That said, Game Informer’s issue isn’t a true limited edition. It’s going to every subscriber and onto newsstands in multiple countries, and supply is the biggest enemy of any flip. If you subscribe just to resell, you’d need to sell your copy for roughly $70 to break even after eBay’s fees and shipping costs. A $130 sale would net about $112, or roughly $52 over the subscription cost. A newsstand copy makes the math far friendlier, if you can find one.

If you’re already a Game Informer subscriber, you’re playing with house money. List your copy early, while hype builds toward launch and before newsstand stock floods the market. Collectors might also consider grading. A high-grade copy of the first big GTA 6 cover story from a legacy outlet could hold value long term, though grading fees and turnaround time eat into short-term profit.

GTA 6 collectibles are extremely hot right now, especially with preorders opening for the Collector’s Edition yesterday morning. That said, the math on this Game Informer cover only works out if you can find a copy at a newsstand or you’re already a subscriber. Purchasing a $60 subscription just to flip one cover probably won’t be profitable.
