Burger King's "Le Nugguette" Mini Bags Sell for Up to $250

Le Nugguette is a nugget shaped micro purse Burger King launched to promote its overhauled chicken nuggets and updated sauce lineup, timed to land during New York Fashion Week. Each bag comes with a randomly assigned charm modeled after one of BK’s four sauces (Honey Mustard, Buffalo, Sweet & Sour, or the new Special Savory) plus a code for a free four piece nugget order. Buyers don’t get to pick their charm, they just find out what they got once the bag ships.

The drop is split into five separate release windows, 100 bags per day from September 12 through 16 at noon ET, capped at one bag per household. Each drop has sold out almost instantly, and competition is fierce.

This isn’t a new playbook. Panera’s BAGuette proved food brands could turn a cheap novelty item into a genuine collectible, and Wingstop and Walmart have both run similar promotions since. Walmart’s Rotisserie Chicken Purse is probably the closest comparison: it retailed for $5.97 and has continued reselling for upwards of $40 on the secondary market.

We’re starting to get some early sales in from the first three drops, and the results are promising. At least one seller has managed to get $250 for their Le Nugguette bag, while another traded hands for $100.

Granted, this is an extremely small sample size with a lot of variance. There are only three confirmed sales with a handful of current listings on eBay. Still, these sales show that there is demand for these bags that’s willing to go beyond the the $4 BK is charging for them.

A 500 unit total run is small for a promotion this size, and splitting it across five separate drops keeps hype building throughout the week instead of dumping everything at once.

And because these are so cheap the risks are pretty much negligible for resellers. If you flip it for $40 that’s a quick and easy 10X. If you land a $250 sale, well, we’ll let you do the math.

The next two drops land September 15 and 16 at noon ET, still with 100 bags available each day, so there’s still time left to get in at retail. At $4 a bag, the downside here is about as small as flips get. Even the weakest confirmed sale so far turned a solid profit, and the best one turned pocket change into real money.
