GTA VI DualSense controllers retail for $85 and opened for preorder today through PlayStation Direct
Both are (probably) sold out; the black controllers are listed as available for preorder but queue times are several hours long
Both colorways are already reselling on eBay for $130 to $150 consistently

GTA 6 doesn’t launch until November, but its first piece of official limited edition merchandise is already reselling on eBay. Preorders for Sony’s two Vice City themed DualSense controllers opened this morning, and it took almost no time at all for them to disappear from PlayStation’s storefront. Resellers, unsurprisingly, were ready and waiting.

GTA VI PlayStation Controller Details

Sony unveiled the controllers at a State of Play last week, one in black and one in white, both built around the color shifting look of Vice City. Palm tree details are molded directly into the shell, and each one carries official Grand Theft Auto VI branding.

The white edition sold at PlayStation Direct and a handful of other retailers, while the black edition stayed exclusive to PlayStation Direct in supported regions. Both ship November 19 alongside the game itself.

The white controller’s PlayStation Direct listing now shows as sold out, and it wasn’t alone. Best Buy and Target ran out of stock within the first few hours in the US, and the UK sold through in about two hours. The black controller was still listed as available for preorder as of this writing, though PlayStation Direct’s queue reportedly backed up for over an hour at points during the launch window, so treat “available” loosely until you have a confirmation email in hand.

This isn’t the first time a PlayStation Direct exclusive has moved like this. Sony used the same distribution playbook for last year’s Death Stranding 2 controller and the Ghost of Yotei Black edition, and RC covered similar demand earlier this year when the Helldivers 2 controller and Astro Bot controller both flipped for $120 to $200 after selling out.

GTA 6 DualSense Controllers Resell on eBay

Listings for both colorways appeared on eBay before preorders even opened this morning. Now that orders are live, both variants have been reselling for $130 to $150 consistently for several hours, representing a near 2X for anyone who secured an order this morning.

Sony hasn’t confirmed production numbers for either color, only describing them as “limited quantities.” That ambiguity usually cuts both ways for resellers. A tight allocation drives up secondary prices, but a bigger reseller pool chasing the same item this time around could compress margins compared to smaller tie-ins like Helldivers or Astro Bot.

Will GTA 6 DualSense Controllers Restock?

Yes, probably. While these are marked as a limited edition release, they aren’t numbered and we think it’s pretty likely PlayStation will restock their sold-out GTA 6 DualSense controllers in the next few weeks.

Keep an eye on PlayStation Direct and participating retailer’s websites. Any restock will likely be small and sell out fast.

Bottom Line

PlayStation Direct offers free 30 day returns on eligible hardware, so if you snagged a preorder and demand cools before November, canceling shouldn’t be a headache. The main risk is timing: with two months between now and launch, more stock could surface at retailers who haven’t listed it yet, which would soften prices before the controllers even ship.

Overall, this is a solid, unsurprising flip. GTA 6 is on track to be the single largest launch of entertainment product in history, and fans are eager to get their hands on a piece of that moment. Rockstar still hasn’t confirmed if GTA 6 will get a Collector’s Edition, so these limited edition controllers are the closest thing gamers have to latch onto.
