The King of the Hill x WD-40 12oz limited-edition can releases exclusively at Home Depot on June 1
No confirmed retail price, but standard 12oz WD-40 cans typically sell for around $9
The can is available through August 31 or while supplies last, nationwide
We’ve got one of the most realistic brand collaborations in years dropping soon, and it’s fully functional. King of the Hill and WD-40 are working together to produce a limited edition variant of the classic product with KotH branding backing up a classic formula. For fans of the show, this is pretty much the perfect collectible. For resellers, it could be payday.
The DNA of this collab goes back to a single scene from Season 2. In the episode “Three Days of the Kahndo,” Hank struggles to open a full-size can of WD-40, so he pulls a smaller can from his holster, sprays the cap, and pries it open. It’s one of the most memeable moments in the show’s run, and it basically made WD-40 a recurring character. The brand also appeared in the series premiere, cementing a relationship that spans the show’s entire history.
WD-40 leaned into it. When the brand asked fans what they wanted on a limited-edition can, King of the Hill was the clear winner, and the result is a collectible 12oz can featuring Hank and the crew. It drops June 1 exclusively at Home Depot locations nationwide, with availability running through August 31 or until stock runs out.
The timing is deliberate. King of the Hill Season 15 is premiering on Hulu this summer, and the can release is positioned as part of the broader cultural moment around the show’s return. That’s useful context for resellers because it means the can is going to have national media coverage and a built-in audience of fans who haven’t thought about King of the Hill in years but are suddenly very interested again.
There are real caveats here. This is not a limited print run with a hard unit cap. The window runs three months, and Home Depot has the kind of supply chain to stock shelves consistently. If WD-40 produces enough units to meet demand, secondary market prices will stay low. That’s the base case.
The bull case is that demand outpaces supply early, especially in the first few weeks of June when the hype is freshest. WD-40 marketed this as a collector’s item, fans are engaged, and a Season 15 premiere will put the show back in front of a large audience. If the cans move fast out of the gate and shelves go thin before restocks arrive, you could see prices push to $25 to $50 on eBay. The viral potential is there if TikTok picks it up.
The strategy that makes sense is to pick up a few cans on June 1, list immediately, and monitor how quickly shelves clear. If demand is weak and cans are sitting through mid-June, you’re holding a $9 item with no real exit. That’s not catastrophic, but it’s worth knowing going in.
This is a moderate opportunity with real upside if you treat it correctly. Buy a small quantity at launch, list fast, and don’t over-commit on a three-month production window. There’s no confirmed final sale policy since this is a standard retail purchase at Home Depot, so you can always return unopened cans if the secondary market doesn’t cooperate. The King of the Hill brand is strong right now with Season 15 incoming, and the cultural connection to WD-40 is genuinely funny and well-documented. If this catches enough attention on social media, the early buyers will eat.
