Let's Talk About GTA 6 Collector's Editions

As of May 2025, we have no official word from Rockstar on GTA 6 Collector’s Editions. You’ve probably heard by now that the game has been delayed from its original 2025 release date to May 2026.

This was a pretty obvious outcome for many, but it’s still a considerable disappointment for gamers. Rockstar has softened the blow by releasing a second trailer for the game and updating their website with a host of new information on in-game characters and settings.

This did not include any mention of a collector’s edition. It’s practically guaranteed that Rockstar will produce GTA 6 Collector’s Editions, we’ll just have to be patient and wait for more info.

But we can still speculate!

To be very clear, everything we’ll be talking about below is a prediction based on Rockstar’s previous releases and our experience reselling video game collector’s editions. As more information is released we will mark updated, confirmed information clearly.

So, what will GTA 6 Collector’s Editions include? We’ll be looking at Rockstar’s most recent games, Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 for examples.

Both of these launched with what we’ll call “underwhelming” collector’s editions. Gamers would receive a map and some individual knickknacks, but no statues or other sort of centerpiece decoration we’d expect from a major release.

Rockstar also preferred to produce most of the collector’s edition content as in-game rewards. Buyers could expect to receive exclusive weapons and cars to differentiate themselves from brokies that couldn’t afford the fanciest editions.

Notably, RDR2 split its Collector’s Edition content over multiple products. The “Ultimate Edition” included the game, a physical map, and bonus content, while Collector’s Boxes were sold separately with a host of mediocre physical content.

Both of these editions cost $100, so a player would need to spend $200 to get the entire Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector’s Edition. GTA 5 Collector’s Editions were $150.

Based on this information, we can draw some conclusions about GTA 6 Collector’s Editions. For one, expect multiple different variants, and expect Rockstar to milk them pretty hard. Given RDR2’s precedent for splitting content across products, Rockstar may release several different GTA 6 collectibles separately.

And if their previous games are anything to go by, most of the content will be digital. Rockstar’s recent Collector’s Editions have really met most players’ expectations for a major release, but that hasn’t stopped people from buying them.

Many content creators have started to build pretty credible mock-ups of GTA 6 Collector’s Editions. While these might look convincing, remember that they’re fanmade and we still have no information, official or leaked.

But this might also be their opportunity to turn things around and release a truly premium collector’s editions. Most gamers expect a statuette or display piece with their purchase, and Rockstar has had plenty of time to catch up to the times. All we’re saying is to keep expectations low.

GTA 6 Collector’s Edition pricing is also an interesting subject. Rockstar has not confirmed an official MSRP for GTA 6, but it will likely start at $80. Some gamers have speculated it will begin a new era of $100 games.

Following this, we expect to see GTA 6 Collector’s Editions cost $250 to $300, depending on content. There will likely be numerous other premium editions that retail for anywhere from $50 to $100 over the game’s MSRP.

And these numbers might be low. If Rockstar chooses to split collector’s edition content over multiple products, it might cost up to $500 for a complete GTA 6 Collector’s Edition.

Given past Rockstar releases, GTA 6 Collector’s Editions will probably be revealed and open for preorder at the same time. This is usually about six months before the game’s release, meaning GTA 6 Collector’s Editions may be revealed sometime in Fall 2025.

Then again, Rockstar may choose to open preorders even earlier because of how big this release is. General preorders for GTA 5 opened 11 months before the game released, but Collector’s Editions were not revealed for another five months.

It’s likely that preorders for GTA 6 Collector’s Editions will open shortly after the game’s third trailer is released. Rockstar has a pretty clear pre-release marketing pattern – and it’s about all we have to go on.

Given that we’ve only just received the second trailer, the GTA 6 third trailer is definitely a few months away. At the very earliest, it might release in September, but December or even January 2026 is much more likely.

Good question, and it really depends on what kind of customer you are. Obviously, we’d estimate the value of a collector’s edition based on what’s in it, and that’s kind of hard when Rockstar hasn’t even officially confirmed their existence.

But we’re talking about GTA 6, the single-most hyped video game release of the last decade (and probably the next). Hype goes a long way.

GTA 6 Collector’s Editions will probably be quite profitable for resellers, but there are caveats. Rockstar may split Collector’s Edition content into multiple products, with the main release focusing on in-game rewards and a separate bundle of physical content, like with RDR2.

And while we might have ragged on Red Dead’s Collector’s Boxes, they’ve actually done pretty damn well on eBay over the last few years. These have continued to resell for over $500 in 2025.

Rockstar actually re-released the Collector’s Box in 2021, three years after the game’s full release. This is a shitty move for anything marked as a limited time collectible, and worth remembering for GTA 6 Collector’s Editions.

Ultimately, we’ll need to wait until more details are released before we can make any calls. However, we do have some advice for anyone looking to resell GTA 6 Collector’s Editions.

Remember that supply and demand is central crux that resellers rely on. Sure, there’s a lot of demand for GTA 6 Collector’s Editions, but you better believe Rockstar is scaling their supply to meet it.

Let’s take Starfield for example. Bethesda (correctly) expected this to be a massive release, and produced tons of Starfield Collector’s Editions and premium content for customers. These were never very profitable for resellers, usually flipping for around $300 after release before eventually sliding below retail.

While you can lay some of that blame at feet of Starfield’s mediocre reviews, it’s clear that Bethesda overproduced these Collector’s Editions and they were never that rare to begin with.

But Bethesda also produced small Vasco statues that were sold separately from the main Collector’s Edition. These were limited to just 800 units, and would go on to resell for over $1,000 after the game released.

And they weren’t hard to buy. Premium merch like this will generally be available for preorder months before the game releases, and resellers will have plenty of time to make their order or cancel it if the market shifts.

So when Rockstar finally reveals merch and Collector’s Editions for GTA 6, take some time exploring their website. Look for stuff that’s actually limited and actually cool, and you might make some serious profit.
