2024 Lorcana D23 Promo Sets are Dropping Soon

Disney announced big plans for its 2024 D23 Expo earlier this week. Tons of new product reveals, 55 panels, and an exclusive Lorcana set. It’s been a little over a year since we’ve started following Disney’s new TCG, and resellers have been there every step of the way. We’re expecting this new set to do extremely well, and we recommend taking every possible step to secure one (or ten).

Smart resellers know there are all kinds of ways to make a buck. If you’re stuck in 2020 chasing shoes and sports cards, it’s time to diversify your scalping portfolio. We’re here to give you a hand.

Lorcana officially launched in September last year, but the cards were in circulation well before that. Players got their first look at the TCG during 2022’s D23 Expo, where Disney fans can congregate and gorge themselves on overpriced merch.

While the lines were long and the air sweaty, resellers that managed to reach the Lorcana booth were able to walk away with a D23-exclusive Lorcana Promo Set. These would go on to explode on eBay, with individual cards selling for thousands of dollars at a time.

With the full release came waves of collectors and resellers fighting over restocks. We cleaned shelves at Targets and Walmarts across the country, walking away with entire carts that would go on to flip for hundreds.

When the full game finally hit shelves late last year, the fun continued. These cards have been trading about as well as any other TCG we’ve covered, and it seems like Disney and Ravensburger really tuned their production numbers for optimum FOMO.

Now with the 2024 D23 Expo just around the corner, it’s looking like resellers will once again have an opportunity to snag rare Lorcana Promo Sets.

The 2024 D23 Lorcana Promo Sets will include one card from each of Lorcana’s first six expansions, but with unique card art that is wider and shows additional scenery.

The cards included in this D23 Lorcana Promo Set are:

• The First Chapter: Mickey Mouse – Brave Little Tailor
• Rise of the Floodborn: Cinderella – Stouthearted
• Into the Inklands: Ursula – Deceiver
• Ursula’s Return: Bruno Madrigal – Undetected Uncle
• Shimmering Skies: Vanellope Von Schweetz – Sugar Rush Princess
• Winter 2024 Set Preview Card: Oswald – The Lucky Rabbit

Of note, the Oswald card is from the upcoming Winter 2024 set which won’t released for several months. Collectors will have a chance to cut the line and get their hands on this card before anyone else.

How to Get a 2024 D23 Lorcana Promo Set

But now for the hard part. These sets are going to be very, very popular, and won’t be easy to buy. Even if they were being sold online (which they’re not), we’d expect them to be a difficult cop.

There are a couple ways to get a 2024 D23 Lorcana Promo Set. The most obvious is by attending D23 2024 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The Expo will run for three days from August 9 to the 11th.

If you don’t mind waiting in a seriously long line in front of the Ravensburger booth, you’ll have a good chance to obtain one. Keep in mind that demand is very strong for these Promo Sets. Get to the booth early, before they sell out for the day.

But the 2024 D23 Lorcana Promo Sets will also be available at certain Disney properties on August 9. In the U.S., you’ll be able to buy it at Disneyworld and Disneyland, along with the Times Square Disney Store.

• Australia: Disney Store Pop-up Experience, Melbourne (three day pop-up)

Along with the D23 exclusive Lorcana Promo Sets, attendees will have first dibs on the “Shimmering Skies” Lorcana Expansion, which is set to launch fully on August 23.

D23 Lorcana Promo Sets Resell

So, time to check your calendar. If you’re going to be near any of these properties on August 9, or you’re already considering attending the D23 Expo in Anaheim, snagging one of these D23 exclusive Lorcana Promo Sets should be a priority.

Why? Because they resell! Since we started covering Lorcana, we’ve recorded numerous profitable flips from standard booster packs alone. Resellers have been flipping these for $300, double what they retailed for.

But these Promo Sets are different, in a very good way. Our first introduction to Lorcana was at the D23 2022. Expo-exclusive sets of seven cards were available at the booth for $50 and resellers were able to pick up several at a time if they got to the booth early.

Fast forward just a few months and those packs start reselling for $4,000. Individual graded cards are trading hands for more than $1,000 at a time, thanks to unfounded rumors about some of the cards being rare.

In fact, there were only two unique factors to this 2022 D23 Lorcana Set. First, it was released well ahead of the actual game, and gave collectors a chance to get their hands on it before anyone else. Second, the cards were printed with a unique foil treatment, unavailable anywhere else.

And that was enough to push them into quadruple digit sales. Do you know what’s special about the 2024 D23 Promo Sets? They contain one exclusive, unreleased card, and unique art that won’t be printed anywhere else.

You can practically smell the money. Chances are these won’t hit the same incredible highs as the original release, but we can guarantee they will resell. This is a must-have for a Lorcana collector, and if there’s one thing we say about a Disney adult: they know how to waste money.
