Xbox 25th Anniversary Consoles Resell for Up to $2,500

The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition is functionally the same console as a standard Series X. What’s different is the shell: a translucent “OG Green” case calling back to the original 2001 Xbox, complete with an illuminated X logo and 25th anniversary branding.

Every unit is individually engraved between 1 and 25,000, and the bundle includes a matching X25 controller plus a digital download of Halo: Campaign Evolved. According to Xbox’s official announcement, the package ships November 13, about $100 over a standard Series X bundle.

Some of Xbox’s most loyal fans got early preorder invites by email, with no clear criteria on who made the cut. General preorders opened to everyone else the next morning and sold out almost immediately at Microsoft’s own store, Best Buy, and Walmart. We flagged the X25’s collector potential back when it was first revealed, though the console isn’t quite the hardware draw that helped drive demand for PlayStation’s 30th anniversary console.

We’ve tracked nearly 100 eBay sales since Thursday’s general preorder, and the majority land between $2,000 and $2,500, with a few pushing past $3,000. After eBay’s cut, that’s roughly $800 to $1,250 in profit per unit for anyone with a confirmed order. The controller is a smaller win at $120 to $150 against an $80 retail price, netting closer to $25 to $50 after fees.

Nothing ships until November 13, so buyers and sellers are trading on trust the order actually gets fulfilled. eBay’s presale policy requires items to ship within 40 days of the sale, and a seller flipping a preorder months out can’t meet that. It’s not unusual to see this kind of activity for hot products and eBay generally turns a blind eye to this violation if both buyer and seller understand the situation.

Expect prices to stay firm over the next few weeks while the initial wave of FOMO buyers works through eBay. Microsoft may reopen a trickle of console preorders if early buyers cancel, but any restock will be unannounced and gone fast given the fixed unit count. The controllers could see a restock or two in the coming months. With how fast those sold out, hitting a restock for a quick flip isn’t a bad idea.

Longer term, the production cap works in resellers’ favor heading into the holidays since nobody has to worry about Microsoft flooding the market later. Anyone sitting on a confirmed console preorder is choosing between two decent outcomes: sell now and lock in real profit, or hold through the holidays and bet the market gets even hotter as gift-giving season kicks in.

The fixed unit count removes the usual fear of a restock crashing the market, so holding isn’t a bad play if you can stomach the wait. Still, passing on guaranteed money is always risky, especially when we’re talking about $1,000+ in profit from a single flip. If you want to take a chance on a hotter market towards the holidays, just understand that demand might cool over the coming months.
