In 2023, Pickleball player Ben Johns signed with Leaf Trading Cards to release his rookie card. The card was available to order during a 2-week window, with an ultimate total of 3,935 produced. He is notably the #1 ranked player in the world for both singles and doubles.
If you missed out on the last raffle, you’ll have a chance to enter once again. We’re raffling 30 Ben Johns rookie cards that have been out of production for weeks. Winners will have the opportunity to turn back the clock and pick one up before they sold out, and we’re only asking you to cover shipping. Additionally, the cards have not been graded or combed through, they’re just being sent directly from the printer to you. By the way, PSA 10 Ben Johns rookie cards have sold for $300 in the past. If that sounds interesting, you should enter the raffle.
If you’re not immersed in the world of pickleball, or an avid RC reader, you might not know why these cards are a big deal. We’ve covered Ben Johns’ career and these cards in a recent article, but the quick TL;DR is that Ben Johns is a pretty big deal in a sport that’s been rapidly growing for years. These rookie cards were produced in extremely limited numbers, and are already trading above their retail price.
At the time of their printing, Leaf sold the Ben Johns RC for $8. The cards had no quantity limit, but would be printed to order only once. In total, Leaf printed 3,935 Ben Johns rookie cards. While that number may seem insignificant compared to traditional card runs, it was actually pretty impressive for what is essentially pickleball’s first real print.
Since then, we’ve seen a modest aftermarket emerge for the cards. We’re not into Michael Jordan territory yet, but Ben Johns’ rookie cards are reselling for more than retail. Raw (ungraded) cards typically flip for around $30 to $40, while PSA 10 examples have auctioned at $300.
Now you have a chance to go back to April 2023, and pick one of these cards up before the print closed. Resell Calendar’s Raffle for Retail gives you the opportunity to buy rare and sold out goods like these.
We have 30 ungraded Ben Johns rookie cards available for winners, and all we want is $4 to cover the shipping. That’s actually lower than what these cards retailed for (maybe we should change the name). The second Raffle for Retail is open for entries right now, and will close on July 5.
Here’s how to enter:
Head over to the raffle page on the Resell Calendar website, and select the Ben Johns rookie card. You’ll need to enter some basic info and your email address so you can be notified if you secure a card. Winning entrants will have a few days to buy a card after the raffle has ended.
Additionally, you can receive additional raffle entries by generating a referral link. Every time someone uses your link to enter the raffle, both you and them will receive an extra entry. Share it with your friends, send it to your family, or send it out on Twitter. The more people you share it with, the better your odds are of winning a card.
Raffle winners will be announced on July 6. Best of luck to you and everyone who enters. Make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter for more updates, including the date of the next Raffle for Retail.
