Two men are wanted for the theft
Timberland boots with one of seven MLB team’s logos will sell for $250
Matching New Era caps run $50 for adjustable and $60 for the fitted version
The collection launches August 15 with free returns within 30 days on unworn merchandise
Have you ever wanted to rep your favorite team right on your favorite footwear? That opportunity is close at hand. Timberland is collaborating with MLB and New Era on a new collection of shoes and hats featuring seven Major League clubs. Whether you’re a diehard Yankees fan or you bleed Dodger blue, there’s something here for everyone. We’re hoping we can turn a profit when the shoes go live.
The lineup covers the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Red Sox, White Sox, Astros, and Braves. Each boot keeps the classic wheat 6-Inch build and adds team colors to the padded collar along with an embroidered logo on the tongue.
New Era’s branding shows up too, with its logo above Timberland’s coin mark and a flag detail worked into the rear of the sole. The Timberland x New Era collection goes live August 15 through Timberland, New Era, and MLB flagship stores, plus each brand’s own site.
The collection is labeled as a limited edition release, but no production numbers have been provided. These are releasing through Timberland and New Era’s websites, as well as team stores on drop day.
Without hard production numbers, this is a bet on scarcity rather than a locked-in flip. If Timberland actually keeps quantities tight, this might be a pretty decent flip.
If you’re looking to resell these sneakers, we recommend going after the Yankees, Dodgers, and Mets designs, in that order. Timbs are already a deep part of NYC culture and streetwear, while anything connected to the Dodgers carries an above-average chance at reselling for a profit. The Astros sneakers are also a decent bet.
The real selling point here is the return policy. Unworn boots and caps can go back within 30 days, so a reseller who miscalculates isn’t stuck holding dead stock the way they would be on a final sale item. That doesn’t guarantee profit, but it takes most of the downside off the table while the market figures out what these are actually worth.
In related news, the Yankees have finally revealed the design for their coveted Naruto promo cards scheduled to be given away September 8. Demand for these cards is so strong that tickets have risen to $270 prior to the game.
