PS5 Spider-Man 2 Covers Are Now Reselling

You know, it seems like all kinds of dumb things resell. For whatever reason, a product takes off on social media, or sells out at retail, and suddenly we see it plastered on eBay for three times what it sold from the retailer. Today, we’re looking at limited edition Spider-Man 2 covers for the PlayStation 5. Aesthetic options reselling is nothing new, but these covers are still notable. Let’s take a look and see what the big deal is behind them.

PlayStation Spiderman Covers

So first, let’s make something clear. These Spider-Man 2 themed PlayStation covers are not the same as a limited-edition console. Those are a well-established tradition, and something we’ve seen resell many times before.

Instead, these covers are replacements for the plastic panels that come with the console from the factory. They allow a gamer to completely swap out the look of their PlayStation at any time. They tend to be produced in much greater numbers than the limited-edition consoles, but that doesn’t always stop them from selling out.

The cover in question features the Alien Symbiote from Spider-Man 2, which is slowly creeping across the surface of the console. Only a corner of red still shows through, with black tendrils beginning to encroach on it.

Spider-Man 2 PlayStation 5 covers were sold in two ways: it was possible to pick them up in a PS5 bundle that included a console, controller, cover, and copy of the game, or individually. PlayStation sells Spider-Man 2 covers through their website for $65. Buyers will need to pick a cover that fits their console, there are options for both digital and disk.

These were first sold on July 28, and are expected to start shipping some time in September. Since they were first revealed, Sony has struggled to keep them in stock due to demand. People seem to really like the idea of playing dress-up with their console, to the point that these covers have been unavailable for weeks, and are now reselling.

PS5 Spider-Man 2 Covers Resell

September is just around the corner, and many resellers are making a buck by putting their Spiderman PS5 covers up for sale on eBay before they start shipping. While unexpected opportunities to make a profit reselling aren’t an everyday occurrence, you take what you can get.

Right now, a PlayStation Spider-Man cover resells for around $150. Covers for the disc edition tend to resell for slightly more, but overall the price seems pretty steady. This is quite a popular item to resell, with many sales being recorded every day.

While it’s not the same as a limited-edition console, people are clearly excited for these covers. Enough to buy them out at retail, enough to pay a $100 premium, enough to buy a presale off of a reseller months in advance. Whatever works for them, as long as it keeps making money for resellers.
