Odyssey release “Happy Gilmore” inspired putters this month
They retail for $500 and sold out through most retailers
Resellers have flipped them for $800 to $1,000
Looking for a new putter? How about some extra padding for your man purse? Either way, Odyssey has got you covered. The company recently produced a tie-in putter for “Happy Gilmore 2”, and they’ve been absolutely flying. While these are designed to look like a hockey stick, they’re fully functional and tournament legal putters. These are available at a variety of golf retailers, and resellers have had a ton of success flipping them for a profit.
We’re well into 2025, which it means it’s time for a low-effort, cash grab sequel to a decades-old film. This time, it’s “Happy Gilmore 2” produced and released through Netflix.
Once again starring Adam Sandler as a former ice hockey star struggling to adapt his skills on the links, “Happy Gilmore 2” is available for streaming right now. It’s currently holding a 57% on Rotten Tomatoes and 54 on Metacritic.
As we all know, the real money behind a film is in the merch. Rather than going the traditional route by selling collectable popcorn buckets, the producers for “Happy Gilmore 2” have teamed up with various golf manufacturers for several tie-in products.
One of these is a new putter from Odyssey. These are based on the custom hockey stick-shaped putter Gilmore receives in the first film, with a bizarrely elongated grip and 57° lie angle optimized for slap shots.
Odyssey is selling their “Happy Gilmore 2” Hockey Stick putter for $500, and they also come with a custom tube sock headcover. They are listed for sale through Odyssey’s website and retailers like Golf Galaxy and Fairway Jockey, but are entirely sold out online.
Local availability is another matter. These putters began appearing in stores this week, and they may still be in stock near you.
It’s worth the effort, trust us. Golfers have no issue with forking down hundreds of dollars on the latest gear, especially if it’s limited edition and tied to one of their favorite movies.
Right now, Odyssey “Happy Gilmore 2” Hockey Stick putters are reselling for around $800, with some selling for over $1,000. eBay has recorded over 200 sales for this putter in the few weeks, with more and more rolling in every day.
That comes out to a commendable $300 or more in profit for every putter flipped. As we said, these are mostly sold out online and local availability will be spotty, but snagging even one of these putters to flip can be very lucrative.
