Attendees who finish a free Naruto TCG tutorial session receive an exclusive Chakra promo card
Nearly identical cards sold for $1,000 to $1,200 after a giveaway at Gen Con 2026
Bandai already ran this play once this summer, and it worked. Gen Con attendees who sat through a short Naruto TCG tutorial walked out with a promo card that turned into one of the biggest single item flips of the year. Now Bandai is bringing the same gift to New York Comic Con this October, and resellers who missed out the first time get a second shot. The math is a little more complicated this time, as 40,000 near-identical versions of these cards will be given away at a Yankees game in September.
Bandai’s Naruto Card Game booth will run free tutorial sessions all four days of NYCC, October 8 through 11 at the Javits Center. Unlike Gen Con, where session tickets were reserved online, NYCC registration happens onsite the day of each session, with Bandai promising more details soon.
Finishing a session gets you the CP-001 Chakra Card and a logo sticker, capped at one gift per person no matter how many sessions you attend. One catch missing from the original announcement: Bandai says you also need to be registered to the Naruto TCG Updates Channel on TCG+ and complete a post session survey to actually collect your card.
Bandai will also sell a limited edition playmat for $35 plus tax, one per person and capped in quantity each day. It ships in 2027, so you’re buying a voucher, not the mat itself.
The hype around Bandai’s Naruto TCG has been extremely strong since its reveal this summer, and fans and future players have been hankering for an early look at the cards.
After Gen Con attendees received their cards, we saw a ton of them go up for sale on eBay. The prices were remarkable, with individual cards reselling for $1,000 to $1,200, and bundles with an event-exclusive playmat and backpack going for up to $1,800.
We’re not expecting NYCC copies to hit those same numbers. A nearly identical card is being given away to 40,000 fans at Yankee Stadium on September 8, a month before NYCC even opens, and that much extra supply hitting the market first will soften demand. A realistic range is closer to $300 to $500 rather than four figures. That’s still plenty of profit, even after platform fees and ticket costs.
The real risk isn’t the card, it’s getting one. Tutorial spots are limited each day and registration only opens onsite, so a badge doesn’t guarantee a session. Treat the admission cost as sunk the moment you buy. Still, Comic Con gives attendees a unique opportunity to pick up exclusive merch to resell and the profits routinely exceed the costs of admission. We’ll produce a more detailed writeup on the best merch to resell at NYCCC 2026 closer to October.
Early bird badge pricing closes September 3, and once the con opens, tutorial slots figure to move fast given how the Gen Con version performed.
