Ms. Rachel’s latest Speak & Sing dolls have sold out
They released on Monday for $30
Resellers are flipping them for more than $75 at a time
Earlier this week, the children’s YouTuber Ms. Rachel dropped her latest toy. Ms. Rachel “Speak & Sing” dolls were available for a brief time online, but quickly sold out following a rush of demand. Now resellers are listing their dolls on eBay for a decent markup. So far, they haven’t had any troubles making sales, and this doll represents one of the easiest flips we’ve seen in the last few weeks.
If you’re a parent or you just watch a lot of YouTube Kids, you might already be familiar with Rachel Accurso. Better known as Ms. Rachel, Accurso has been producing children’s content for several years, and steadily grown into a major YouTuber.
As of this publication, her channel has over 10 million subscribers, while her new videos regularly average more than 50 million views.
Unlike most of the hacks making content for YouTube Kids, Ms. Rachel holds a master’s degree in music education and extensive experience working in children’s education, and is pursuing a second master’s in early childhood education.
It’s nice to see something other than “Finger Family” and content mills doing well in the space. To bolster her already sizable income, Ms. Rachel also sells a line of toys through her own website and at major retailers.
And her latest toy, Ms. Rachel’s “Speak & Sing” doll, just dropped yesterday. These toys are touch-activated, prompting children to speak and sing along with Ms. Rachel.
Ms. Rachel Speak & Sing dolls were available for $30. It took under an hour for all the storefronts to sell out, and they have not restocked since.
While that was probably surprising for some parents, resellers were ready for it. Ms. Rachel’s YouTube account continues to grow, and we’ve seen past releases of her toys sell out in no time before being listed on eBay.
Can you guess what happened this time? Kid’s toys can be pretty lucrative for resellers, and this drop was no exception.
Right now, Ms. Rachel’s Speak & Sing dolls are reselling for around $75. With multiple storefronts and generous purchase limits, a motivated reseller was able to stock up on several of these dolls before they sold out.
And now they’re flipping for double what they retailed for, and resellers are packing away tons of easy profit for five minutes of work.
There are two main reasons why these are such an attractive flip. For one, most retailers that offered these also have generous refund policies. These dolls were essentially zero-risk items, because resellers could just return them if they bricked.
Additionally, they are great Christmas gifts. With just a few weeks left until the holidays, parents (the smart ones, at least) start buying gifts now, and are motivated to buy from a reseller if they can’t get them at retail.
Holding these until December is risky, but could end up being extremely lucrative. Every year we see toys go viral just before Christmas and resell for huge margins. We’ve covered it before in our articles on Air Hogs and Fat Brain’s Air Toobz, and it’s possible it could happen with these Ms. Rachel dolls.
You can imagine just how profitable it would be to be sitting on a cache of the most popular toy of the season. We’ll be checking in closer to Christmas on how these dolls are doing.
Until then, subscribe to our newsletter if you want to learn more about reselling. We cover pretty much every kind of product out there, as long as we can flip them.
