If you’ve been eyeing LEGO’s hyped PS1 replica set, we have an easy way to take up to $100 off your order. LEGO will be shipping Astro Bot GWP sets to their PlayStation buyers, but only while supplies last. These sets aren’t available anywhere else, and they’re reselling for up to $100. Are you picking up what we’re putting down?

LEGO 72306 PS1 Set Details and GWP

Sony and LEGO revealed the LEGO PlayStation set during the September 3 State of Play broadcast, and it’s a love letter to anyone who grew up blowing on memory cards.

The 1,911-piece build recreates the original PlayStation at near 1:1 scale, complete with “working” Open and Power buttons and an original controller that plugs into the front. Pop the lid and you’ll find two removable dioramas based on Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. It’s the fourth full-size LEGO console after the NES, Atari 2600, and Game Boy, and it looks like one of the best of the bunch.

The real story is the gift with purchase. LEGO Astro Bot 40899 is a 276-piece figure of PlayStation’s modern mascot, standing about 8 inches tall on a display stand. He’s got a posable head and arms, swappable eyes for different expressions, a cape, and blue propulsion jets on his feet.

Astro started as a tech demo in The Playroom, came preinstalled on every PS5 through Astro’s Playroom, and headlined his own 2024 platformer, which took Game of the Year at The Game Awards. That’s a big fanbase for a set you can only get for free.

LEGO Astro Bot 40899 GWP Resells

Presale listings for LEGO Astro Bot set 40899 are already moving on eBay between $70 and $100. After fees, that nets roughly $60 to $86 before shipping. Knock that off the set’s retail price and you’re effectively paying somewhere between $94 and $120 for the PlayStation. That’s a third to nearly half off a set that hasn’t even released yet.

GWPs are produced in limited numbers and run while supplies last, so ordering early is the whole game. Sign up for LEGO Insiders, which is free, and place your order when early access opens October 1. Confirm Astro Bot is in your cart before you pay. The set also launches on PlayStation Direct October 1, and some outlets report the gift applies there too, but that isn’t confirmed. Retailers like Target and Amazon typically don’t include LEGO.com GWPs.

Bottom Line

LEGO offers free returns within 90 days, but you’re required to send back any gift that came with the order. Once you sell the Astro Bot, returning the PlayStation gets complicated. Preselling adds its own risk: if your order ships without the gift, you’ll have to cancel on your buyer, which can hurt your eBay account.

If you already wanted the LEGO PlayStation, this is the best deal you’ll see on it for a while. Get your order in October 1, verify the gift is in your cart, and decide whether Astro Bot lives on your shelf or pays for a chunk of the console.
