Kanye is rumored to have an official coin on the way
This comes after major launches from figures like Donald Trump and Javier Milei
It will likely launch through Meteora (if it’s real)
All across social media, crypto speculators are waiting to see if Kanye West will be revealing his very own meme coin. Hype has ratcheted up in the last 48 hours following a string of tweets from Ye, and it’s possible we’re on the eve of the coin’s launch. Of course, it’s equally possible that no official Kanye coin is in the works, and never will be. Let’s go over some of the possibilities and discuss what a potential Ye coin would actually look like.
In between crashing out on Twitter, getting divorced, and huffing nitrous, Kanye probably needs to make a little cash. His Yeezy store shut down earlier this month (but not before a number of shirts with swastikas were listed for sale).
So what does a 24 time Grammy award winner do for money? Spin up a rugpull meme coin, obviously. Hey if its good enough for world leaders like Javier Milei and Donald Trump, it’s good enough for Ye.
Speculation around a Kanye meme coin is nothing new, but things have hit a new peak as of this week. Polymarket currently has a 40% chance of Kanye releasing his own coin before the end of February, and most crypto traders are monitoring markets for new Ye-related coins.
The rumors come after weeks of extended rants and strange behavior on and off social media. Insider sources claim that Kanye and his wife Bianca Censori have begun divorce proceedings and he has relapsed back into an alleged nitrus (sic) addiction.
And he has been busy on Twitter posting various slur salads aimed at Jews, black Americans, trans and gay people, and his ex-wife’s family. The dude is kind of a mess, which is not really surprising if you’ve been following him at all over the last few years.
So: why launch a meme coin? Well, why not? At this point, rugging millions of people is just as likely to be in the cards as posting his dick online – except one will be a lot more profitable.
One tweet in particular caught the eyes of the crypto community in particular. He was asking specifically about cryptocurrency, and wanted to know if that money was “cash or concept”
And last night he posted another semi-coherent rant that included the phrase “I just made 17 million 17 minutes ago”, which prompted further speculation.
Considering how heavily blackballed Kanye is right now, it does make you wonder who would be willing to give him that much money. Record producers, shoe companies, festivals, probably not. But crypto degenerates? The antisemitism and racial slurs are actually positives in this case.
And of course it’s equally possible that it’s just bullshit. For now, let’s assume that a Kanye meme coin is in the works, and discuss how you, the reader, could profit from it.
Again, this is baseless speculation. We’re just making assumptions, so don’t get mad if things don’t go the way we suggest.
If Kanye does drop a meme coin, it’s very likely that it will launch on Meteora. This a platform built on the Solana chain, and has been very popular with recent high profile meme coin launches. In fact, both Trump and Milei’s coins were launched here, making it a likely candidate for Ye coin.
We recommend keeping some Solana liquid and familiarizing yourself with the Meteora protocol. Photon is a useful tool that can monitor new Meteora launches and buy and sell coins through one application.
And be very careful buying new coins. There are already tons of fake Kanye meme coins launching right now because of the hype. We really can’t stress enough that this whole situation is a massive gamble.
There’s a (very) good chance you could lose your money in a number of different ways. If you prefer to play things smart, this might be something you should sit out. Then again, scared money doesn’t make money, and sometimes you need to take a risk.
That’s about it. If this does end up becoming real, a decent number of people will become millionaires overnight, but that will require some extraordinary luck and quick buying. We just wanted to alert you to the opportunity and go over some of the risks.
