Hideo Kojima has never been shy about his love of physical media, and now you can hold a piece of it in your hand shaped like a BB Pod. km5, the Japanese audio brand behind a small but devoted following of collectible CD players, just dropped an official Death Stranding 2: On the Beach edition of its Cp1 model. It’s priced like a premium gadget, not a toy, and resellers are already circling.

The Cp1 is normally a minimalist little Bluetooth CD player that looks more like a picture frame than a piece of retro tech. For this collab, km5 reworked it into translucent neon orange, styled after the BB Pod, the glowing jar that houses the franchise’s iconic funky fetuses.

Small touches like “ensure lock is tight” warning decals and Death Stranding themed packaging round it out. Buyers also get two exclusive postcards designed to slot into the unit’s display sleeve.

It ships through km5’s official product page, and is also available in person at the Kojima Productions x PARCO Games Strand Store in Shibuya.

Death Stranding fans have shown up for weird, high-effort merch before. A limited run CD player with this level of design work fits right into that pattern.

Will These CD Players Resell?

This checks a lot of boxes resellers like: strong IP, distinct design tied directly to a specific game moment, no confirmed restock, and a fanbase with a habit of buying limited merch rather than just admiring it from a distance. At $199 retail, there is real room for a flip if demand plays out anything like past Death Stranding collectibles.

That said, this one comes with more risk than we’d like. km5 offers no returns under any circumstance, so this is final sale the moment you check out. There is also no stated production number, just a promise that sales end whenever stock runs out, which makes it hard to gauge scarcity ahead of time.

On top of that, km5 ships from Japan and states clearly that the $199 price does not include customs duties or additional fees, meaning your actual landed cost could run meaningfully higher depending on where you live.
