GTA 6 PS5 DualSense Controller Preorders Open September 10

Sony unveiled the DualSense Wireless Controller, Grand Theft Auto VI Black Limited Edition and its White Limited Edition counterpart during a State of Play stream. Both feature a color shifting finish meant to evoke Vice City sunsets and neon nightlife, along with palm tree details molded directly into the shell and official GTA VI branding.

Preorders open September 10 at 10am local time (7am PT/10am ET in the US) through PlayStation Direct, with the white edition also available at select retailers in some regions. The black edition is exclusive to PlayStation Direct where the storefront is available. Both controllers retail for $84.99 and ship alongside the game’s November 19 launch, so this is a preorder play, not something you can walk into a store and grab today.

This is not the first time a DualSense limited edition has turned into a flip. Our coverage of the Helldivers 2 controller and the Astro Bot controller showed these controllers can resell for $120 to $200 once preorders sell out.

The design itself is fairly subtle for a $600 million game launch, but scope tends to matter more than subtlety here. GTA VI is arguably the most anticipated release in gaming history, and that alone should be enough to sell through PlayStation’s preorder allocation quickly.

Supply is the bigger unknown. Sony knows exactly how big this moment is and will likely produce these in far greater volume than a niche title tie-in like Helldivers or Astro Bot. More resellers will also be chasing this one, which tends to compress margins.

Risk here is lower than most preorder plays. PlayStation Direct offers free 30 day returns on eligible hardware starting from the ship date, so if demand cools before November 19, canceling or returning an unopened controller should not be a problem. Just keep an eye on order confirmation emails for any changes to that window as launch gets closer.

We’re still waiting on any information on GTA 6 Collector’s Editions. Rockstar has chosen to play their cards absurdly close to their chest this time, and anticipation from collectors and resellers has never been higher. We produced a list of expectations and predictions for GTA 6 Collector’s Editions back in June, but those are pure speculation at this point. With just over three months left until the game’s launch, expect more information to drop soon (hopefully).
