Gears of War: E-Day Lancer Replica Preorders Open Soon

E-Day is the latest installment in the Gears of War franchise, and the first since Gears 5 in 2019. Understandably, fans are a little excited. This is probably the second biggest first-party franchise for Xbox behind Halo.

One fun tradition that precedes a game’s release is a new Lancer replica. The Lancer is the distinct assault rifle/chainsaw that’s become an iconic part of the franchise, and the studio has been producing real-world replicas for fans to own since Gears of War 2.

Xbox and the Gears of War team officially confirmed earlier today that E-Day would be joining this tradition, and an official Gears of War: E-Day replica Lancer will be going up for preorder this Thursday, August 20.

Details are pretty limited, but you can sign up for notifications on Xbox official webstore here. From what we can see, this is a high quality 1-1 scale model of the rifle featured in the game, completed with a wicked saw blade at the front.

No price has been confirmed for the Gears of War: E-Day Lancer replica, but we’re expecting it to land in the $200 to $300 range.

As we mentioned, this is not the first time Xbox has produced a replica Lancer to sell to fans. In fact, there’s an active market for replicas from past games. These versions regularly resell on eBay for anywhere from $200 to $500.

If collectors are actively hunting down previous releases to complete their arsenal, it’s only logical to assume that the latest release will be in strong demand.

We can’t put real numbers on the E-Day version without knowing price or production run, so treat any prediction here as a rough guess based on precedent. The signs are encouraging though. Gears of War hasn’t had a mainline release in over six years, and both the E-Day Collector’s Edition and the limited edition controller have already sold out or resold at a markup ahead of launch. If the Lancer follows that pattern and comes in a tight run, this could be one of the better flips in this whole rollout.

Additionally, look for language on how Xbox will handle preorders, refunds, and cancellations. Ideally, they’ll allow you to cancel preorders for a full refund. If not, the risk going into this flip will be much higher.
