The world is a beautiful place. Usually. And there are a lot of people out there that like taking pictures. Whether it’s a hobby or a job, a good camera can make a lot of difference. Fujifilm’s X100 series of cameras has been a mainstay for photographers since 2010, and the next iteration is just around the corner. Preorders opened for the Fujifilm X100VI earlier this week. Resellers are keeping a close eye on this camera because the previous versions have been very profitable flips. Will the X100VI prove just as lucrative? Let’s take a look.

Fujifilm X100VI Digital Camera

A few months ago we put out an article about the Fujifilm X100V. Announced and produced through 2020, the X100V was marked by two distinct factors: extreme popularity, and manufacturing issues.

Everyone wanted one of these cameras, and nobody could get one. Resellers made a killing by flipping them through the pandemic, especially as photography boomed in popularity. It wasn’t unusual to see sales up to and exceeding $2,000 for one of these cameras.

Now after four years we’re getting the next entry in Fujifilm’s X100 series. The imaginatively named X100VI was finally revealed earlier this week, and it looks… a lot like the X100V.

Not that that’s a bad thing. X100 series cameras are to photography what Mustangs are to cars: iconic, versatile, and very popular. Rather than mess with a winning formula, Fujifilm has opted to make a few updates to the product, including the price tag.

Fujifilm X100VI cameras cost $1,600, a jump from $1,400 for the X100V. What does that extra money get you?

Compared to the X100V, the VI has a larger viewfinder, higher sensor resolution (40 MP vs 26 MP), and new AI-powered features like an automatic eye-tracking focus.

One of the most notable new features is a powerful in-body image stabilization system that can correct for movements to the camera, reducing shake and producing clearer pictures.

Otherwise, the exterior of the X100VI is very similar to its predecessor. It weighs a little over an ounce extra, but retains the distinct design the X100 series is known for.

Fujifilm X100VI Numbered Edition

At the same time Fujifilm announced the X100VI, they also revealed it would be getting a highly limited numbered edition. These are limited to just 1,934 units, and will sell for the same price.

These are not available yet. Fujifilm’s website simply lists a sale date in March, and invites you to “contact your local Fujifilm sales company to explore the opportunity to purchase.”

The 1,934 numbering is a reference to Fujifilm’s date of founding. The company turned 90 years old in January.

Fujifilm X100VI Cameras Resell

As we mentioned before, the X100V cameras were a great flip. Constricted supply and intense caused them to resell for several years. Obviously all eyes are on the X100VI.

And while it’s still early, there are a handful of sales. Some resellers that snagged a preorder for the X100VI have flipped them for nearly $3,000.

If you think that’s good (and it is), what do you think the specially numbered cameras will resell for? Keep a close on Fujifilm’s socials in the upcoming days, and we recommend contacting local dealers to get a line on one. The demand is there, the money is there, all you need is a confirmed preorder.
