Pokemon TCG drops have been restocking over the last few weeks
RC members have been ahead of the curve and taking profits
Prismatic Evolutions and 151 Bundles are flipping for 2X MSRP
Pokemon buzz has been floating around all month leading up to Pokemon Day 2025. While the announcements made at this year’s Pokemon Presents broadcast were mostly concerning games, the weeks leading up to it proved to be fruitful for resellers. All month long monitors have been pinging with restocks of Prismatic Evolutions and 151 boxes.
If you’ve been in the hobby recently, you know how hard these sets are to come by. Prismatic Evolutions is the most recent expansion in the Pokemon TCG, releasing January 17th. Pokemon 151 originally released back in September 2023, and has been restocking at major retailers.
These are some of the most in demand expansions in recent years, and have held resale value around double MSRP with very high daily volume. To put it in perspective, there’s few products in any sector that move at such high and consistent volume, not to mention a 100% ROI. Collectors can only imagine what prices might look like in years to come.
Most major retailers like Target, BestBuy, Costco, Walmart all get regular shipments of Pokemon TCG products, but you’d better be ready for an IRL Pokemon battle if you show up on a restock day. Gotta catch ’em all right?
Savvy resellers may opt to skip the mayhem and wait for online opportunities. RC mods and monitors do an exceptional job giving members real time updates if something profitable becomes available. In many cases products can go in and out of stock within minutes, but quick hands and persistence always pay off in the end.
Even if you missed one drop, there was another right around the corner. A lot of major retailers were expecting restocks ahead of Pokemon Day on February 27th, and many even offered promo cards and accessories with purchase.
Members were notified of a particularly good promotion from PokemonCenter.com offering 3 free promo cards with any purchase over $20. These cards were designed by the 3 winners of the Pokemon Illustration Contest in 2024, and cards from previous contests have held some value. At any rate, free money is free money.
The promo code became available on February 21st and stopped working sometime on the 22nd indicating that the promos have gone out of stock. Now these free cards are selling on eBay for around $20 each with a good chance to appreciate in coming year. Just look at how adorable that yawning Pikachu is.
Pokemon 151: Blooming Waters Premium Collection officially released on February 7th online and in store at major retailers. This is the same box that you saw people fighting over at Costco in the video above. Each box retails at $60 ($50 each in a Costco 2-Pack) and records dozens of daily eBay sales at $120. RC members were ready on Pokemon Day when they restocked on BestBuy.com.
Pokemon 151 Booster Bundles have also been restocking at retail price of $27 and consistently flying on eBay for $60 each. The profits can really stack up if you were able to snag multiple packs at retail and flip them in bulk.
The highly anticipated Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection also went live for pre-order at BestBuy and Gamestop for $90. This box is only slated to release 5/16/2025 so we can’t say for sure that it will sell for double MSRP like other products in the expansion, but we are certainly expecting strong margins.
Even after the media frenzy surrounding Pokemon Day dies down, it’s safe to say that prices on the Prismatic Evolutions and Pokemon 151 expansions will hold strong. If prices dip in the short term, you can expect them to bounce right back closer to the holiday season.
Over the years Pokemon cards have been some of the most consistent products in a reseller’s inventory. There have certainly been sets that only offered decent margins once they hit the sale rack, but considering the huge success of recent sets and the hype surrounding all the games releasing later this year, we’re feeling very bullish on Pokemon TCG.
