After debuting at D23, Designer Alice in Wonderland dolls were sold online yesterday
They were available for $130 and sold out instantly
Resellers are flipping them for up to $300
Yesterday morning, the latest addition to Disney’s Designer Collection dropped: “Fashionably Late” Alice. This is just the most recent in a line of premium dolls aimed at collectors, and has been the one of the most popular. Resellers and fans descended on the sale immediately, and the limited amount of stock was not enough for everyone. Now these dolls are reselling for a considerable profit, and there are more from the collection on the way.
Yes, we’re talking about dolls again. If you’re an experienced reseller or just trying to seem like one, you should know just how much potential profit there is in flipping dolls.
Last week we covered Mattel’s latest Dia de Muertos Barbie, and now we’re checking out Disney’s Midnight Masquerade dolls. These launched earlier this year, and are a part of Disney’s Designer Collection of high-end, collector-focused dolls.
There are a total of eight dolls in the collection, but only three have released so far. The most recent, Alice in Wonderland, dropped yesterday morning.
Featuring an intricate ballgown and detailed bunny masquerade, these Alice dolls were extremely hyped ahead of their release. Just 4,000 in total were produced, so getting one would be exceptionally difficult.
Alice in Wonderland Designer dolls were available for $130 on Tuesday morning. The resulting rush of collectors and resellers fighting over the limited stock meant they sold out in under a minute. At the time of the sale, at least 30,000 people were in the checkout queue.
The equation is pretty clear. Too many people and not enough product makes for a straightforward result, and one that most resellers are perfectly happy with.
Right now, Alice in Wonderland Designer Collection dolls are reselling for upwards of $250. Resellers have even managed to flip their dolls for over $300 at a time, but prices seem to be coming down a bit as sales slow.
Still, the average seller is walking away from this drop with $100 or more in straight up profit. This wasn’t an easy flip by any means, but it was definitely worth the attempt.
And things aren’t over yet. While these Alice in Wonderland dolls are sold out, there are still five more dolls in Disney’s Masquerade Collection that are waiting to release. The next drop is the Queen of Hearts doll, set for September 24.
The most popular upcoming Disney Masquerade dolls are Ariel (October 1), Mother Gothel (October 15), and Snow White (October 22). Expect to see these sell out just fast as the Alice in Wonderland dolls did, and flip for similar profits.
As always, we recommend you do your own research before purchasing of these dolls, but we’re pretty confident they’ll be worth flipping.
