Casio X Pokemon Anniversary G-Shock Drops July 1

The GA-110PKM-7A takes Casio’s iconic GA-110 case and dresses it head to toe in Pokemon’s original 1996 red, blue, and green. The inset dial at 9 o’clock is shaped like a Poke Ball, complete with a Pikachu-shaped indicator hand. The strap features 30 different Pokemon spanning every region from Kanto to Paldea, plus Mew tucked into the band loop to round out the anniversary number.

The case back gets its own engraved 30th anniversary logo, and the packaging itself is shaped like a Poke Ball with all 30 Pokemon printed on the outer box.

This is still a fully functional G-Shock underneath the theming. Shock resistance, 20 bar water resistance, world time across 48 cities, a 1/1000-second stopwatch, and an auto LED light all come standard.

Preorders open July 1 online through G-Shock’s site and in person at the brand’s SoHo flagship in NYC, with a retail price of $270. General release follows July 17, but we expect preorder stock to be largely gone before that date even arrives. If you’re near the SoHo location, walking in might actually beat fighting the online queue, though that obviously isn’t an option for most of the country.

Casio’s G-Shock collabs have been quietly putting up real numbers lately, and this one has a much bigger built-in audience than anything that’s come before it.

The Coca-Cola G-Shock retailed for $200 and has been clustering around $300 on eBay, with some sales pushing close to $400. The Daft Punk x PLEASURES collab retailed for $180 and settled around $250, with outliers hitting $400 to $500.

Pokemon dwarfs both of those properties in terms of built-in collector demand, and this is the first time the fandom gets a full-sized G-Shock instead of a Baby-G. Pokemon collectors are some of the most active spenders in the entire collectibles space, and a lot of them don’t typically buy watches at all.

That crossover demand, stacked on top of existing G-Shock collectors and the 30th anniversary hook, is what could push this well past the Coca-Cola and Daft Punk numbers. A jump into four figures isn’t out of the question if early sales are any indicator of where the comps before it landed.

If you have the option, going in person to G-Shock’s flagship store in SoHo will tip the odds in your favor compared to fighting for a preorder online. You’ll need to get there early and probably wait in line for a while, but the potential profits make this well worth the effort.
