Officially called the Bey Keeper Collector’s Box, the crate is Beyoncé’s contribution to the 20th anniversary of her sophomore album, B’Day. It retails for $948.01, a number that reportedly matches her September 4, 1981 birthdate, the same one she recites at the start of B’Day track “Get Me Bodied.”

Handcrafted from solid pine and finished with beeswax oil, the box is lined in deep green velvet and comes with a faux gator skin leather strap and gold hardware. Each unit is individually numbered out of a run of 500, with custom engraved details tying back to the beekeeper theme.

Vinyl is not included. The listing ships November 1, 2026, and shipping plus taxes push the realistic total closer to $1,100. The item is also final sale, meaning there’s no returning it if buyer’s remorse sets in.

The crate is part of a broader anniversary campaign that includes new B’Day branded clothing, a $40 candle, and an expanded 31 track deluxe edition of the original 2006 album with additional material. In a statement released through Parkwood Entertainment, Beyoncé said she wanted the original album to feel “big, percussive, hard, up-tempo and energized,” and that live instrumentation was a priority during recording.

The anniversary lands during an otherwise busy stretch for Beyoncé, who has stayed active with surprise releases and tributes throughout the year. None of that context stopped the internet from zeroing in on the box.

Celebrity merch drops built around anniversaries are common, and expensive limited runs aren’t new territory for Beyoncé’s fanbase, which has a track record of buying into exclusive releases regardless of price. What makes this one different is the reaction. Most premium collectibles from major artists draw some grumbling but still sell through on loyalty and scarcity alone. This one crossed a line for enough fans that the backlash became the story instead of the box itself, which is a notable shift for an artist whose merch usually moves without much pushback.

With how a bad of a reception these boxes have garnered, we think it’s pretty likely Beyoncé’s team will cut them loose and close preorders early.
