Anicorn’s latest collaboration with the developer celebrates ten years of Kojima Productions, featuring studio mascot Ludens as the central inspiration. While these are billed as a limited edition release, there are quite a few unanswered questions raised by the way Anicorn has described this release. Make sure you get all the facts before placing a preorder.

What is Anicorn's Kojima Productions Watch?

This is Anicorn’s newest Ludens X release, built to mark 10 years of Kojima Productions. Yoji Shinkawa designed the dial, and the watch pulls its look from the Ludens EVA Creative Suit, the astronaut mascot tied to the Death Stranding universe. Expect a black case, dark technical dial, gold tone accents, exposed screw details, a modified NH35 automatic movement, sapphire glass, and 50 meters of water resistance.

Each set ships with the timepiece, a black stainless steel cuff bracelet featuring the Ludens graphic, and an individually numbered metal print warranty card. Anicorn hasn’t confirmed total production numbers, but the marketing display unit is stamped 000/000.

Taken at face value, we’d assume Anicorn is making 999 of these watches, but it’s looking like that might not be the case. The watches are set to ship in January 2027, which is unusually long lead time for a watch going up for sale in August. This implies that Anicorn hasn’t actually produced the watches.

That “000/000” number is also odd, and it seems like a placeholder. If you consider these factors combined with the fact Anicorn has refused to divulge total production numbers, it seems like they intend to produce these watches to order, rather than sticking to a strict production limit.

This is just our speculation, but it’s an important consideration for resellers hoping to flip these watches for a profit. Whenever a product is produced to order rather than a strict limit, it introduces a considerable degree of unpredictability to the market.

Will These Anicorn Watches Resell?

Anicorn has a strong track record at producing watches that resell for a profit. This isn’t even their first collab with Hideo Kojima, with previous Death Stranding watches reselling for $1,000 to $2,000 over retail in the past few years.

Their recent PlayStation 30th Anniversary release was also extremely lucrative. These $740 watches were trading for as much as $2,500 after release. These successful releases are why Anicorn is on our radar.

But these releases all had strict production limits advertised well before the sale. If Anicorn is producing to demand instead of working off a fixed cap, there’s theoretically no ceiling on how many get made. For this to actually pay off, the drop needs to stay under the radar of the broader Kojima fanbase during preorders so demand doesn’t balloon the run, and buyers need to be ready to hold until at least January to have a real shot at recouping their money.

Anicorn has confirmed this is final sale, meaning no cancellations and no refunds once you check out. Between the uncertain unit count and the open ended production window, we’re classing this as an extremely risky flip. A total loss seems unlikely since there should still be buyers for a Kojima Productions collectible at a discount, but there’s a real chance of losing money after staking close to $1,000 for four plus months with no way to back out.
