Monster High x American Girl Frankie Stein Dolls Resell for $450

American Girl and Monster High had never partnered before this week, which is part of why the release moved as fast as it did. The Frankie Stein doll is an 18 inch collector piece with a custom pale green skin tone, black and white streaked hair, silver plated neck bolts, and one green eye paired with one blue eye.

She comes dressed in a plaid dress with mesh puff sleeves, platform Mary Janes, a skullette purse, a cuff bracelet, and drop earrings, all packed in collector grade box art.

Access wasn’t wide open either. American Girl gave its top tier AG Rewards Berry members an early presale window through August 31 at 11:59 p.m. Central, both online and in retail stores, before the doll opened up to everyone else. With only 6,000 units made worldwide and a strict limit of one per customer, the release was built to sell out, and it did almost immediately.

We don’t usually cover American Girl dolls, but a first-ever crossover with this much scarcity baked in is exactly the kind of sleeper opportunity that can translate to real profits on eBay.

With the doll gone from AmericanGirl.com, resale activity picked up almost instantly. Current asking and completed prices are clustering around $450, nearly double what shoppers paid at retail just days ago. That is a strong flip for a toy category most resellers overlook entirely.

This one comes down to novelty and scarcity. A 6,000 unit cap split between a Berry-only presale and a short public window meant demand outran supply before most casual shoppers even saw the announcement. Monster High also carries real nostalgia with millennial collectors who grew up with the original line, and pairing that fanbase with American Girl’s own loyal collector base created two audiences competing for the same 6,000 dolls.

Expect prices to hold in the $400 to $450 range while the initial hype window stays open, though a wave of resellers listing at once could soften that slightly over the next couple of weeks.

At $450 to $500 on eBay, resellers stand to profit up to $200 for each doll sold. That’s a great flip if you could snag one, but the real catch is scale. With a strict one per customer limit, this was never going to be a bulk play.
