L.A.B. Golf X Steph Curry's Underrated Collab is Live Now

L.A.B. Golf has released a limited edition collection with Stephen Curry’s Underrated Golf Tour (UGT), led by two custom putters priced at $1,750 each. The VZN.1i and OZ.1i are available now on L.A.B’s website, and a portion of putter proceeds goes to UGT’s junior golf programs. Before you rush to place an order, there a couple issues we need to discuss. Among them, L.A.B. is not offering returns or refunds on any of the items in this collection

Both putters come in a limited edition black, silver, and red color scheme with a black stainless steel insert, a custom UGT TPT shaft, and a custom UGT Pistol 0º grip. Curry’s Underrated logo is engraved on the head. Each putter ships in a collector’s box with photos of Curry and includes an Underrated headcover and accessory bundle.

The headcovers are also sold separately for $100 in five sizes to fit different L.A.B. putters. They are black with red piping and silver highlights, carry the Curry Brand, UGT, and L.A.B. logos, and close magnetically. The accessory pack, a ball marker and a two-pronged divot tool, is $35.

Curry founded UGT to make golf more accessible to players aged 12 to 18, and L.A.B. is the tour’s official putter. A portion of the proceeds from each putter sold goes back to UGT. Despite the junior focus, these putters are adult sizes.

L.A.B. accepts no returns in any circumstance, and orders cannot be canceled once placed. A putter that does not sell leaves the reseller holding the full cost. Flipping one could be profitable, but the risk is extreme.

L.A.B.’s most recent limited edition collab with Uncrustables is a useful comparison. They retailed for a similarly high price of $2,000 and sold out relatively quick. Some of the putters flipped for a profit on eBay, but most secondary sales were headcovers and accessory bundles.

The Underrated putters are a harder flip. L.A.B.’s premise is the custom specification of lie, angle, and balance, and buyers must choose a shaft length and lie angle at checkout. Those specs cannot be adjusted after the putter is built. A reseller is betting $1,750 that a later buyer missed the drop, still wants one, and wants the exact specs picked at checkout.

The safer play is the $100 headcover. It requires far less capital and has no spec-matching problem, and L.A.B.’s limited edition headcovers have proven demand following the Uncrustables collab.

That said, there’s really no telling how limited this collection actually is. L.A.B. has gotten more aggressive with limited edition releases this year, and without published production numbers, we’re simply left guessing at the true number of putters built. Be careful with this collection.
