Is the GTA 6 Collector's Edition Leak Real?

The account, posting under a username tied to a Mexican packaging firm, shared an image of a black box they described as “larger than a PS5 box”. The image shows several of them stacked on a pallet, and a rough estimate would put them about 2.5 feet tall and 1.5 feet on each other side, printed with “Vice City, Leonida” and the game’s VI logo.

The poster backed up the claim with a photo of an employee badge for Unique Services Group S.A. de C.V., a company that does packaging and print work, and said they worked there for about a month without ever signing an NDA.

The most interesting detail is a claimed “circular piece where a disc could fit” inside the box. That is notable because Rockstar has already confirmed that physical copies of GTA 6 ship with a download code, not an actual disc. If the leak is real, that disc shaped cutout either points to a different kind of insert entirely or the poster is filling in gaps with a guess. Either way, the post was deleted shortly after going up, and Rockstar has not acknowledged it.

The “leaker” was pretty adamant that these boxes would be used for GTA 6 Collector’s Editions, and noted that the inside was more colorful than the exterior. Other users noted that the design and dimensions are similar to the cardboard display boxes used by retailers to promote games.

Rockstar has dealt with a steady drip of leaks throughout GTA 6’s development, from gameplay footage to map details, but a physical packaging leak would be a first. The reason a leak this weak is even worth talking about comes down to the silence around it. Fans have been asking for months whether Rockstar plans a Collector’s Edition at all, and Rockstar has offered nothing beyond confirming the game ships without a disc. Any scrap of information, even if it’s some guy posting about cardboard boxes, is guaranteed to catch the attention of the massive community looking for any news related to GTA 6.

There are a few conflicting details here that make us think this leak is bunk. For one, the leaker claiming that the boxes contain a slot for a disc contradicts Rockstar’s statement that GTA 6’s release would be entirely digital. Additionally, GTA 6 Collector’s Editions will likely not include a copy of the game, digital or otherwise, so the random addition of a disc slot to what seems like custom-made packaging doesn’t make sense.

Before deleting their posts and account, the leaker took time to answer a few questions from fans. On the subject of a release date, the leaker said they had no idea, but they thought that GTA 6 Collector’s Editions might release after the game’s launch because “production would continue into November.” How the hell would they know this? If this is just some random warehouse employee sorting cardboard boxes, how would they have any idea of what the production timeline for the collector’s editions looks like?

Our guess is that these boxes are probably just display pieces intended for retailers when GTA 6 launches in November, and the “leaker” made up the rest of the details for a bit of internet attention. Even if these are the real packaging for GTA 6 Collector’s Editions, the leaker barely provided any useful information. There’s no indication of the contents, pricing, and they didn’t take any pictures of the inside of the box.

Before we wrap up, we want to reiterate some our predictions on GTA 6 Collector’s Editions. Again, this is all speculative, but it’s based off Rockstar’s previous releases and our own research rather than anonymous social media posters saying “trust me bro.”

Is GTA 6 getting a Collector’s Edition? Nothing is officially confirmed. Rockstar has stayed quiet on the subject even after opening preorders for the Standard and Ultimate digital editions back in June. That said, it would be a shock for a release this hyped to skip physical merch entirely, especially with Rockstar already charging $99.99 for a digital only Ultimate Edition.

What’s in GTA 6 Collector’s Editions? Will there be a statue? Rockstar’s track record for physical merch is pretty weak. GTA 5’s Collector’s Edition centered on a map, and RDR2’s was a wooden box with a handful of collectibles for $100. The industry has moved toward statues and bigger physical centerpieces since then, so it is possible Rockstar steps up its game this time, but we would not bet on it until something is confirmed.
