Key Points

  • The Alaska retails for $230 and drops March 28 via Nike SNKRS

  • The 2018 “Euro” original this shoe is based on trades between $1,500 and $5,700

  • Production is estimated at roughly 20,000 pairs, making this one of the tighter Jordan 1 releases in recent years

It’s been nearly five years since Virgil Abloh’s death. Since then, several collaborations and limited edition tie-ins have been released with the blessing of his estate. With the foundation of the Virgil Abloh Archive, or VAA, in 2025, a re-release of one of the most iconic AJ1 designs has been confirmed. New VAA X Air Jordan “Alaska” sneakers drop this month, promising a fierce battle between collectors and solid profits for resellers.

VAA Alaska AJ1 Release Details

The 2018 “Euro” was a European-exclusive release that most of the world never had a shot at copping. It became one of the rarest Off-White AJ1s by default, and its secondary market prices reflect that. The Alaska revisits the same all-white deconstructed design — exposed foam collar, floating Swoosh, zig-zag stitching, blue accents, the signature “AIR” midsole text — but brings it to a global audience for the first time.

The most significant change is on the medial panel. Where the 2018 version read “Off-White for Nike,” the Alaska reads “V.A.A. for Nike.” That’s not just a branding swap. After LVMH sold Off-White to Bluestar Alliance in 2024, Virgil’s estate formally separated from the brand he founded. The Virgil Abloh Archive — a private collection of more than 20,000 objects from his career — is now the vehicle for his ongoing Nike work, and this is the first real launch under that identity at scale.

The packaging is also worth noting: a side-opening box with circular cutouts, a transparent inner case, and a sketch booklet stamped “MODERNISM IS NOT NEW.”

Will These Resell?

No pre-release asking prices have been confirmed on StockX yet, so anyone quoting you firm resell numbers right now is speculating. What we can work with are comps.

The 2018 “Euro” currently trades between $1,500 and $5,700 on StockX depending on size, with size 10 and 11 commanding the higher end. The Alaska will not hit those numbers — the production run is too large and the scarcity premium of a European exclusive does not apply here. But the cultural weight behind this release is real, and 20,000 pairs globally for a first-of-its-kind V.A.A. drop is still genuinely limited for a Jordan 1 with this much hype.

Virgil Abloh AJ1 Euro for Sale

For context, the Off-White x Jordan 1 “Chicago” has traded as low as $700 and as high as $1,400+ in recent years on StockX, and that shoe has had far more pairs in circulation. The Alaska sits in a different tier of desirability given the Euro heritage, the new V.A.A. branding, and the fact that this is Virgil’s posthumous debut under his own name.

A realistic target range on StockX in the first weeks post-drop for a mid-size like a 10 is somewhere in the $500 to $900 neighborhood based on comparable Virgil AJ1 releases, but treat that as an informed estimate, not a guarantee. After StockX fees of roughly 11%, a $700 sale on a $230 retail yields about $393 in profit. A $900 sale clears about $571. Solid flips if you can cop at retail, but this will be a raffle game for most people.

How to Cop

The Alaska drops March 28 via the Nike SNKRS app. For bespoke, coveted releases like this, Jordan boutique dealers may occasionally be allocated a small portion of the stock, but that’s not been confirmed yet.

Luck is about the only determining factor in this drop. Make no mistake, this will be one of the most competitive releases of 2026, so get your rabbit’s foot, don lucky underwear, and find a shooting star to wish upon. Snagging a pair will be worth the (lack of) effort.

One important note: Nike and most boutique raffles are final sale. If you enter, win, and can’t flip it, you own it. Know your exit before you enter.

Bottom Line

This release is doing more than moving product. It’s establishing what V.A.A. for Nike looks like at scale, and that matters for everything that comes after it. The Virgil Abloh Archive has confirmed more V.A.A. x Nike collaborations are coming in 2026. How the Alaska performs on the secondary market will set the baseline for all of them.

If you’re a sneakerhead who missed the 2018 Euro or never had a shot at it, this is the closest you’re going to get — and unlike the original, you actually have a path to retail. If you’re purely in it for the flip, the margins are real but the cop will be competitive. Either way, March 28 is worth circling on your calendar.
