Liquid Death has spent years convincing people that canned water is extreme. Now they’ve turned their attention to the afterlife. The brand just teamed up with Spotify on the Eternal Playlist Urn, a Bluetooth speaker embedded in a cremation urn that streams music to your remains for eternity. If you want your eternal respite to be broken up by hardbass and death metal, this is the product for you.

What the Hell is This?

Liquid Death launched the Eternal Playlist Urn as a collab with Spotify, and the concept is exactly what it sounds like. The urn is made from 100% polyester resin, measures 7″ x 7″ x 11.4″, and has a Bluetooth speaker built into the lid. The speaker charges via USB-C, and the whole setup connects to Spotify so you can curate a playlist that plays next to your ashes indefinitely. Spotify even built out a dedicated Eternal Playlist tool at to let you set yours up before you need it.

Each urn is produced in small batches and may have minor imperfections, which Liquid Death describes as what makes each one unique. That is either a charming detail or a quality control note, depending on your read of the situation.

If you’re not familiar with Liquid Death, the short version is that they built a beverage company around the premise that water can be marketed like a heavy metal band. Skull logos, death imagery, merchandise that makes no logical sense, and a marketing department that clearly has no restrictions whatsoever. They sell canned sparkling water and iced tea, but the actual product has almost always been secondary to the brand itself.

The Spotify urn fits that playbook to a tee. It’s a product designed to go viral, generate press, and remind everyone that Liquid Death exists and does whatever it wants. At $495 for 150 units, they’re not trying to move volume. They’re trying to be talked about.

Should You Buy One?

Probably not.

This is almost entirely a question of whether you find it funny or cool enough to justify $495. There’s no resell angle here worth chasing. The urn has been in stock for several days without selling out, which tells you the Venn diagram of “people who want a Spotify speaker in an urn” and “people willing to spend $495 on one” is smaller than Liquid Death probably hoped.

That said, if you’re a collector or the kind of person who appreciates absurd limited-edition objects for their own sake, this is a genuinely one-of-a-kind item. It is limited to 150 units, each one is slightly unique, and there’s a real argument that this becomes a conversation piece worth owning.

Just go in with eyes open on the return policy: all sales are final unless the urn arrives damaged. There are no refunds because you changed your mind or couldn’t get a playlist going. Plan accordingly.
