Key Points

  • MLB teams host promotional nights frequently and give away exclusive merch

  • Coveted items include crossovers and bobbleheads featuring star players

  • At worst, items can be flipped to cover ticket prices. At best, they resell for hundreds or thousands of dollars

We’re so close to Opening Day you can almost taste it. Now that the Super Bowl is over, all eyes are turning to baseball and the highly-anticipated 2026 MLB season. Single-game tickets are on sale now for several teams, and that also means we’re getting a look at the promotional calendar. These special events are unique opportunities for resellers to attend games for free, and sometimes even make a profit. Tickets will not last long, so check for promo nights near you and act fast.

Why MLB Promos Are so Profitable

Stadium giveaways hit different than typical retail drops. You’re competing with families and casual fans, not reseller bots. Most people show up 20 minutes before first pitch and miss out entirely. The ones who do get items often don’t realize what they’re holding. A parent sees a free bobblehead, a reseller sees $150 on eBay.

The math works because ticket prices stay relatively stable while secondary market demand can spike hard. A $35 Dodgers ticket gets you a giveaway that might flip for $200. That’s not counting the actual game, parking, or concessions, but the item itself can cover your entire cost and then some.

MLB teams have also figured out that crossover IP drives attendance. Anime nights, celebrity bobbleheads, and nostalgia drops aren’t just gimmicks anymore. They’re calculated moves to pack stadiums, and they’re working. The Mariners sold out their One Piece night in early February for a late March game. That’s unheard of for a regular season weeknight.

At the low end, attending a theme night and flipping the merch is an easy way to cover the cost of attendance and maybe your concessions. For the hottest giveaways, we’ve seen resellers score triple digit profits just by watching a baseball game.

One Piece Dodgers Card for sale

Over 30,000 of these cards were given out last year. Now they’re worth $1,500

The 2026 MLB season is stacked with major crossovers and limited giveaways. There has never been a better time to start attending games, so mark these events on your calendar and start planning your schedule. Note that many of these games require special event tickets to claim your promo items. These tickets are on swale now and will not last long. Act fast, especially for games in March and April.

MLB 2026 Anime Crossover Promos

Seattle Mariners One Piece Jersey (March 31)

The Mariners are doing their second One Piece collab after last year’s t-shirt giveaway. This time they upgraded to a full button-down polyester mesh jersey with “Straw Hats Crew” and the Jolly Roger on the back. Julio Rodriguez is the spokesperson. The tickets required a special event purchase, not general admission, and they vanished in early February.

The One Piece sports crossover category has been printing money. The Dodgers Luffy promo cards presold for $350+ before the game. One Piece college basketball promo cards have resold for hundreds each. This is a massive anime with a collector base that actually spends money on crossover merch. A wearable jersey from a legitimate MLB collab, in a city where Ichiro made Japanese baseball culture huge, is a strong hold.

If more tickets become available closer to game day (teams sometimes release additional inventory), jump on it. The resale estimate here is $200-400+. That’s conservative given the quality upgrade from last year’s tee and the proven track record of One Piece sports collabs.

Boston Red Sox One Piece Jacket (May 12)

The Red Sox are going even harder. Their One Piece Night includes a commemorative bomber jacket with the Straw Hat Crew Jolly Roger on the front and a chibi Luffy in a Red Sox jersey on the back. VIP ticket holders also get a Wally the Green Monster plush dressed as a One Piece character.

This is the Red Sox’s third One Piece collaboration. They did a 25th anniversary celebration in 2024 and a jersey/hat giveaway in 2025. A bomber jacket is a serious step up from typical giveaways. Most stadium promos are cheap polyester or foam bobbleheads. A quality jacket is something people actually wear, which broadens your buyer pool beyond pure collectors.

Red Sox Luffy Jacket One Piece

The VIP Wally plush could flip separately. Themed plushes tied to specific events tend to do well with hardcore fans. You’re looking at a jacket resale around $150-250 and maybe another $50-75 for the plush if you went VIP. Theme tickets are required, so you’re guaranteed the item if you buy in.

Texas Rangers Jujutsu Kaisen Jersey (May 26)

The Rangers did JJK Night in July 2025 against the Orioles and it sold out. The jerseys featured “Sorcerer” on the back with blue cursed energy streaks. The 2026 version is expected to have similar design quality. Theme night tickets are required, which means limited supply but guaranteed item if you purchase.

JJK merch has been moving well across categories. The anime’s got momentum, the fanbase is active, and crossover sports gear hits that sweet spot of functional and collectible. Resale estimate is $100-200 depending on design execution and how much the fanbase shows up on secondary markets.

The Rangers are also doing My Hero Academia Night on April 6 with a co-branded anime jersey (design TBA), plus Backyard Baseball Night on July 8 with a Pablo Sanchez bobblehead. The Pablo bobblehead is worth watching separately, nostalgia-driven collectibles for millennials have been consistent flips.

Boston Red Sox Wimpy Kid Bobblehead (April 18)

Jeff Kinney lives in Massachusetts and owns a bookstore in Plainville. The Wimpy Kid series has sold 290+ million copies worldwide. The Red Sox are going all out with activations including a Loded Diper cover band on Jersey Street. A new Wimpy Kid book drops in October 2026, which could keep interest elevated throughout the year.

This is a different kind of crossover. You’re not targeting anime collectors, you’re targeting families and nostalgic millennials who grew up reading these books. The series has genuine cultural weight. An exclusive Red Sox X Diary of a Wimpy Kid bobblehead featuring Greg Heffley is the kind of thing parents buy for their kids and collectors grab for themselves.

Special theme tickets are required (purchase through the Wimpy Kid landing page, not general tickets). Resale estimate is moderate to high, probably $75-150. There’s no direct comparable, but IP-branded stadium bobbleheads with massive fanbases tend to hold value. The Red Sox schedule is stacked with IP crossovers this year (Hello Kitty Day, PEANUTS Day, Harry Potter Day, Star Wars Day, One Piece Night), so demand for their themed events is clearly there.

MLB Celebrity & Throwback Giveaways

White Sox Big Homie Giveaway (June 12)

This is a unique promotion honoring Chicano culture in Chicago and beyond. The first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a “Big Homie” vinyl figurine. These will be given out while the team faces off against the LA Dodgers.

White Sox Big Homie Figure Giveaway

The limited numbers and widespread cultural appeal make this especially attractive to resellers, and this game might set attendance numbers for the White Sox. Expect to see figures reselling for triple digit figures after the game.

Texas Rangers "Bloody Lip" Jersey (May 29)

This is the one. On September 8, 1990, Nolan Ryan took a Bo Jackson line drive to the face during a Rangers vs. Royals game. His lip split open. He kept pitching. Seven scoreless innings. The image of Ryan on the mound with blood running down his face became one of the most iconic photos in baseball history.

The Rangers are recreating his blood-stained jersey from that game as a replica giveaway. Complete with replica bloodstains. This is an all-fans giveaway, not limited to the first 10,000 like most Rangers promos. They’re playing the Royals (the same opponent from 1990). It was announced on February 10 and immediately went viral.

Resale estimate is high but capped by supply. You’re probably looking at $75-150 range. The volume will be there, so this is more about moving units than hitting huge margins on a single piece. If you can get multiples (bring friends, family, whatever), it’s worth doing.

The Rangers are also giving away a Nolan Ryan “punching” bobblehead on July 20 honoring the Robin Ventura brawl. First 10,000 fans. That one’s probably more valuable due to scarcity, but the bloody lip jersey has broader appeal.

Dodgers Ice Cube Lowrider Bobblehead (May 12)

Ice Cube drove the World Series trophies around in his lowrider during the Dodgers championship parade. The Dodgers are immortalizing that moment with a bobblehead of Ice Cube in said lowrider for the first 40,000 ticketed fans through the gates.

Ice Cube already had a Dodgers bobblehead that was a collector favorite. This one adds the iconic parade lowrider, which gives it a specific story hook tied to the 2024-25 championship runs. The Dodgers are back-to-back World Series champs. Their fanbase is massive. Celebrity crossover Dodgers bobbleheads have consistently resold for $100-300.

Single-game tickets are on sale right now. Get in early if you’re targeting this. Dodgers promotional nights draw huge crowds and giveaways will run out faster than you expect.

Shohei Ohtani "Greatest Game" Bobblehead (April 10)

Ohtani’s NLCS Game 4 performance was absurd. Three home runs. Ten strikeouts. Six scoreless innings. The Dodgers are splitting it into two bobbleheads: the batting version (April 10) and the pitching version (July 8). First 40,000 ticketed fans for each.

Ohtani bobblehead nights drew 53,000+ fans in 2024. He has three bobblehead dates total in 2026 (April 10, July 8, August 22). On his six bobblehead giveaway days in 2024-25, he hit .375/.423/.875 with four home runs. The man performs on bobblehead night, which adds to the hype.

Gray Shohei Ohtani Bobblehead for Sale

Shohei’s Bobbleheads have flipped for over $1,000 in the past

Previous Ohtani bobbleheads have consistently resold for $100-200+. Expect similar range here. The “Greatest Game” angle gives these specific bobbleheads more story value than a generic Ohtani one. Both parts (batting and pitching) could be worth copping if you’re serious about Dodgers promos.

How to Resell MLB Promos

Arrive Early for First-Come Giveaways

If the promo is “first 40,000 fans” or “first 10,000 fans,” you need to be there 90+ minutes before gates open. Bobblehead nights especially draw crowds. People line up. Gates open early for giveaways (often 2-3 hours before first pitch). Check the team’s website for specific gate times.

Theme ticket items are guaranteed if you buy the ticket, so arrival time matters less. You still want to show up reasonably early to actually get your item, but you’re not competing with 40,000 people in a rush.

All-fans giveaways (like the Nolan Ryan jersey) mean you can show up anytime and get one. These are less stressful but also have higher supply, which can cap resale prices.

Know Your Ticket Type

First-X-fans giveaways: General admission ticket, race to the gate, first-come-first-served.

Theme ticket giveaways: Special ticket purchase (often labeled “Theme Night” or “Specialty Ticket”), guaranteed item, may cost $5-20 more than base ticket.

All-fans giveaways: Any ticket works, no rush needed, everyone gets one.

Check the team’s promotional calendar carefully. Some promos look like general giveaways but actually require theme tickets. Missing that detail means you show up and get nothing.

Make Presale Listings

The Dodgers One Piece Luffy card situation proved this. Presales hit $350+ before the game. If you’re confident in demand and you’ve secured your ticket, listing presale can lock in profit before you even attend. The risk is the item underperforms or you can’t get it for some reason, but for sold-out high-demand promos, it’s a real strategy.

eBay allows presale listings if you specify the ship date accurately. Make it clear the item ships after the game date. Most buyers understand how stadium giveaways work.

If you don’t have much experience preselling and are worried about the risks, we wrote a simple guide here on the basics.

Risk Factors

Theme ticket items are guaranteed if you buy the ticket, but check refund policies. Some theme nights have different terms than standard game tickets.

Sold-out events (like Mariners One Piece Night) may require buying tickets on secondary markets, which cuts into profit. Factor that cost in before committing.

All-fans giveaways mean higher supply. The Nolan Ryan jersey will have thousands in circulation. Don’t expect $300 flips on high-volume items.

Weather and team performance affect attendance. A cold April game or a team in last place means fewer people, which can actually help you get items easier but might signal lower demand overall.

Bottom Line

Not every MLB promo is worth your time, but the 2026 schedule has legitimate heat. The Mariners One Piece jersey is already sold out, which tells you demand is real. The Rangers Nolan Ryan bloody lip jersey is an all-timer for nostalgia. The Dodgers are stacking Ohtani and Ice Cube bobbleheads with their championship momentum. Anime collabs are proven money across multiple teams now.

Tickets are an investment, not just a cost. A $35-50 game ticket that nets you a $150-300 item is a solid ROI. Even if you strike out on resale, you watched a baseball game. There are worse ways to spend a night.

And if you’re actually a baseball fan and a reseller, this is the perfect overlap. You’re not just flipping items, you’re attending games for teams and players you care about. The Ohtani bobblehead nights are must-attend regardless of profit. The Nolan Ryan jersey is a piece of history. The anime collabs are genuinely cool. Make money and have fun.

Not every team has announced their promo schedule yet. We’re still waiting to hear what the Yankees, Cubs, and Mets have in store, so expect a followup to this article as more details emerge.

Dodgers single-game tickets went up for sale last night, and this is easily the most competitive market in the league. If you’re in the LA area and hoping to see one of these games in person, you need to act fast (like right now).
