Key Points

  • The ceramic mugs were free to MyLowe’s Rewards members at participating stores

  • Limited to first 200 people at each location during the December 13 restock

  • Currently reselling for $30 to $50 on eBay with solid sales volume

Lowe’s really knows how to work a viral moment. After their $2 mini buckets became a TikTok sensation earlier this year, the home improvement chain turned around and made ceramic mugs that look exactly like those buckets. Then this morning, Lowe’s offered the first 200 rewards members at each location a free holiday bucket mug. The program was totally free to join, meaning these mugs cost absolutely nothing if you showed up early enough.

Lowe's Mini Bucket Mug Giveaway

Earlier this year, Lowe’s mini buckets went absolutely viral on TikTok. The $2 plastic buckets were supposed to be for paint or organizing tools, but people started using them as coffee cups, planters, and everything else. Millions of views later, Lowe’s was sitting on an unexpected hit product.

The company clearly paid attention. Instead of just restocking plastic buckets, they created actual ceramic mugs shaped like their iconic 5-gallon buckets, complete with the Lowe’s logo.

The mugs feature a navy blue color with white snowflake patterns for the holidays, plus a proper handle on the side. They measure about 4.75 inches tall and 3.5 inches across the opening.

Black Friday marked the first drop, where some locations gave them away as part of their bucket promotion. That created immediate buzz, but supplies were extremely limited. This morning’s restock at 10 AM gave more people a shot, though you still needed to be one of the first 200 MyLowe’s Rewards members through the door.

Lowe's Bucket Mugs Resell

eBay sold listings show these mugs moving consistently in the $30 to $50 range with pretty reliable volume. If this morning’s restock was truly the last, we expect to see prices rise soon.

Lowe

The profit math is simple. Free mug from Lowe’s, sell for $35 on average, you’re clearing around $27 after eBay’s 13% fees and basic shipping costs. Not groundbreaking money, but solid returns for something that cost you zero dollars and maybe 30 minutes of your morning.

Some sellers are bundling two mugs together and pushing prices toward the $80+ range, though those listings are moving slower. Single mugs seem to be the sweet spot right now.

Lowe’s hasn’t confirmed whether additional restocks are coming, but given how well both drops performed, don’t be shocked if they bring these back at some point. The company’s clearly learned that bucket-themed merchandise moves, and they’re not leaving money on the table.

Short term, expect current resale prices to hold steady through the holidays as gift-givers discover these mugs. The holiday snowflake design makes them seasonal, which creates urgency for buyers who want them before December ends.

If you grabbed one (or several) of these mugs this morning, you’ve got an easy $30+ flip on your hands. The market’s already proven demand at that price point, and volume should increase as more people realize what they missed.

The only real risk here is market saturation if Lowe’s decides to flood stores with inventory. But given their track record of keeping these promotions limited, that seems unlikely.
