Bratz dropped their Jean Paul Gaultier doll earlier today
They were $150, with special editions limited to 100 units selling for $250
Resellers have flipped the special edition dolls for nearly $600
You know the drill. New Bratz doll comes out, Bratz fans lose their minds over it, resellers flip it for ridiculous prices on eBay. This is not a new trend, and one that we’ve been happy to take advantage of in the last year. The latest high profile Bratz collab featured designs from Jean Paul Gaultier, and sold out predictably fast. Now we’re seeing them relisted on eBay for up to double their MSRP.
Nothing says high fashion like plastic dolls from Walmart. If you haven’t heard, French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier has lent his talent to Bratz for an exclusive new doll that dropped earlier today.
Gaultier’s Bratz Fashion Doll included two outfits based on some the designer’s most iconic work. Also included were numerous accessories like sunglasses, a hat, earrings, and some extras. They would also ship with certificates of authenticity.
Even better, Bratz also released an ultra-limited run of Jean Paul Gaultier Bratz Fashion Dolls labeled as the Special Edition Package. These are almost identical to the standard dolls, except they’re packed with a special metallic foil and individually numbered between 1 and 100.
Oh, and they’re way more expensive. Bratz sold their Jean Paul Gaultier Fashion Dolls for $150, while the Special Edition Package cost an eyewatering $250. That’s an extra $100 for some foil and a sticker.
What else is there to say. Bratz fans really like to whine about the dolls being overpriced, but that didn’t stop the Special Edition Package dolls from selling out in a few seconds. Some people just like to give away their money.
And fortunately for us, their generosity didn’t stop there. Following today’s quick sell-out, we’re already seeing the dolls reappear on eBay for pretty nice prices.
Right now, Bratz X Jean Paul Gaultier Special Edition dolls are reselling for $400 to $600. It’s still earler and sales are limited, but that’s a promising sign for anyone that picked a doll up to resell.
As of this publication, the standard Jean Paul Gaultier Bratz dolls are still available for sale, so we haven’t seen them reselling yet. Without knowing the exact production numbers it’s hard to say what their future might be, for now we’ll just have to wait and see.
That’s all for now. Make sure you subscribe to our newsletter if you want to learn more about reselling. We’re always bringing the latest flips and tips directly to you, so join the fun and start making money today.
