Key Points

  • Supreme sold a limited number of LA Fire box logo shirts for $54

  • All proceeds went to charity

  • Resellers are flipping the shirts for up to $200

To benefit survivors of the destructive LA fires, Supreme announced they would be selling a limited edition T-shirt. All of the proceeds would be donated to people all across LA, and was well received within streetwear circles. The shirts have become a collector’s item as well, and resellers are flipping them for more than three times what Supreme charged for them. Let’s get into it.

You’ve probably heard it before, but the term “activism” has been really diluted in meaning over the last few decades. Are you an activist for signing a Change.org petition? What about sharing a hashtag?

And if you buy the wrong kind of coffee beans, are you a bad guy? A lot of the conversation around activism has become centered on consumption; buy this, not that, support them, not those guys.

But that’s not to say there aren’t worthy causes and people fighting for them. After the destruction wrought by the LA wildfires in January, Supreme announced they would be creating a line of T-shirts with all proceeds going to LA fire survivors.

That’s noble enough. The shirts aren’t anything special, just your average Supreme box logo shirt with alternate art by Sterling Ruby. The back is printed with “Sterling Ruby, Los Angeles Fire Relief, Supreme 2025” so everyone knows where your money went.

The Supreme LA Fire Relief T-shirt was $54, and went up for sale on their website on February 27. All of the available stock sold out quick (obviously), and it wasn’t too long until we began to see it reappear on StockX and eBay.

We know, we know, a Supreme product reselling for a product? Real shocker. We’re not sure how many of these shirts Supreme chose to stock, but they certainly didn’t last long.

Right now, a Supreme LA Fire Relief T-shirt is reselling for $150 to $200 at a time. After shipping and seller’s fees, resellers that got in on this drop are making upwards of $100 in profit per shirt. Not at all bad.

This does raise a bit of an interesting point: is it ethical to resell one of these T-shirts? In our (admittedly biased) opinion, it’s completely fine. The reseller’s money is going to Supreme, and from there donated to people who need it.

And if you want to talk ethics, it actually seems a little dicey to buy one of these shirts from a reseller for an inflated price. After all, by wearing one you’re essentially bragging to the world that you supported LA wildfire victims. If you spend $150 on a shirt and none of that money actually went to charity, it’s stolen valor.

Hopefully the hypebeasts paying out the ass for these T-shirts also found some spare change to donate to charities supporting LA fire victims.

We covered something similar in 2023. For a brief period, the Red Cross gave out Snoopy “I donated” T-shirts with whole blood donations. These went viral on TikTok, and ended up reselling for up to $200 at a time.

And again this begs the question: if you’re spending this much money to own a T-shirt, how much are you donating to the charity that created it? Did you even donate blood?

Maybe, probably not. At least your friends will think you did. In any case, make sure you’re subscribed to our newsletter if you want to learn more about reselling. We’re always covering something new, but you won’t hear about any of it if you’re not subscribed.
