Metal Gear? You heard that right, MGS is back. Well, kinda. Konami just confirmed that 2004’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is getting a remake, hopefully releasing this year. As with all AAA releases these days, MGSΔ has a collector’s edition. Resellers were quick to snatch up every preorder that went live, and the sales are already rolling in.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater

If you were watching last week’s Xbox Games Showcase, you’ve probably already seen the trailer for MGSΔ: Snake Eater. While the game was announced last year, details have been slim and it wasn’t until Sunday that we really got to see the game.

Take a look for yourself here, and yes, those are the original voices.

Konami has elected to reuse the original audio from 2005. David Hayter voicing Snake is just irreplaceable, no shade to Kiefer Sutherland.

The game itself is a ground up remake of the 2004 game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater using the Unreal Engine 5. It follows Naked Snake in his hunt for The Boss, his former mentor, across miles of dense jungle.

The “Delta” in the remake’s title was is meant to reflect the project’s goals: change. While much of the story and concepts will remain the same, the gameplay will receive major overhauls to most systems. For example, the injury system has been revamped so that every wound Snake receives will create a unique and permanent scar.

And while this level of near-autistic detail might sound familiar, Konami has confirmed that Hideo Kojima is 100% uninvolved with Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater (to no one’s surprise).

MGSΔ: Snake Eater Collector's Editions

Konami first showed off the game last year, but the details were slim. Now that the new trailer has dropped, they’ve also confirmed a 2024 release.

Talk is talk. While a delay is entirely possible, the new details about the game have gotten people excited for this remake. Like any clever company, Konami is capitalizing on the moment by offering Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater Collector’s Editions.

These include a copy of the game in a collector’s box, FOX unit and HALO Jump patches, Snake ID card lanyard, metal art case, and terrarium diorama that depicts Snake recovering his backpack from the jungle. The terrarium’s pieces are removable, rearrangeable, and even repaintable.

Purchases of the MGSΔ: Snake Eater Collector’s Editions will also receive the “Tactical” Edition that includes a code for the Sneaking DLC pack and early preorder bonuses.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Collector's Editions Resell

After last week’s showcase, Metal Gear Solid Delta Collector’s Editions went up for sale through GameStop, Best Buy, and Amazon. They cost $200. It seems like the trailer caught people’s attention though, because everything sold out fast.

And in just a few short hours, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Collector’s Editions began reselling for upwards of $300. It’s still pretty early and sales are limited, but this is a great sign for resellers interested in this product.

Metal Gear Delta Collector Edition for Sale

We recommend keeping an eye on these retailers for more stock. Video game collector’s editions have been a bit topsy-turvy lately, and it seems like publishers are preferring to produce less and charge more to keep the hype up.

Whatever works for them works for us. Nothing kills hype faster than a product that fails to sell out. With most of the MGSΔ Collector’s Editions safely in the hands of resellers, this is looking like a very lucrative game.
